The Magi-uchawi guard were in the service of Olokun and served him during his reign and enforced laws in his domains that he ruled over.
They were derived from African stock. They benefited from Olokun's attempts to create an amphibious host race and while they weren't amphibious per say, they were quite comfortable both at sea and on land and were formidable marines. They were gifted swimmers and could easily fend for themselves in the wilds.[1] (RPG: "Living Gods: Stargate System Lords")
Assignment to Tangaroa's research facility on Hou Kainga's moon is seen as an easy retirement for Olokun's most trusted Magi-Uchawi and their families, who often choose to establish secondary homes on uninhabited islands.[2] (RPG: "First Steps: The Stargate Unexplored Worlds Roleplaying Sourcebook")
Trivia[]
Whilst the first part is from a Latin root with a clear "magic" sense in English. the latter in Swahili (Uchawi) means "witchcraft".
