Madrona was once terraformed by an unknown alien race roughly 900 years ago. Following this transformation, the planet became an Earth-like planet with a nice climate. However, in order to maintain the weather on Madrona, a device called the Touchstone is necessary, which was left behind by the unknown race. If this device was removed, the weather would instantly turn into a deadly blizzard, making the planet heavily dependent on the Touchstone. Eventually, the planet became home to the Madronans, a primitive race, who had not the technology to terraform the planet, but the knowledge on how to use the Touchstone.
Eventually, the planet was visited by SG-1 who decided to return to the planet after five weeks, in order to study the Touchstone. However, in this time, people wearing Stargate Command uniforms came to the planet and stole the device, turning the area around the Stargate into an arctic land and the people of the planet against the Tau'ri. SG-1 quickly agreed to recover the Touchstone, which they eventually did, after discovering, that Earth's Beta Gate was used by the NID. After bringing the Touchstone back, the High Priest of the Madronans was able to turn the weather back into the state it was before the theft. (SG1: "Touchstone")
Behind the scenesEdit
- Stargate SG-1: The DVD Collection issue 12 identifies one of the Glyphs for this planet as the point of origin for Abydos. However, this could not be possible due to the fact that the point of origin appears only on that gate.
- It is hinted in the book Stargate SG-1: Friends and Foes: Stargate Season Two that the unknown aliens who terraformed the planet were the mysterious Furlings and that the Touchstone is one of their technology.
