M8R-169 was a planet in the Pegasus galaxy with an ocean encased under a thick sheet of ice. In December 2005, Dr. Moore and Dr. McNab studied the oceans on this planet. With help from their equipment, Lt. Colonel John Sheppard and Dr. Radek Zelenka were able to start a rescue mission to save Dr. Rodney McKay and Captain Hugh Griffin from a sinking Puddle Jumper.
