The M249 Squad Automatic Weapon is a light machine gun used by the SGC and the Atlantis expedition. The rounds fired by the weapon are capable of piercing the armor on a Wraith dart, causing medium to serious damage to the craft. Typically, the SGC uses th Special Purpose Weapon version with a collapsing butt stock and forward rail system. (SGA: "Rising", "Duet")
