A Lighter is a portable Tau'ri device that is used to create a controlled flame, which can be used to ignite flammable things.
History[]
In 1996, during the Abydos Mission, Colonel Jack O'Neill had one that he used to light his cigarettes. Skaara used it and copied Jack smoking but didn't like it. O'Neill let him keep the lighter. Skaara showed it to the other boys in his village. Nabeh tried to touch the flame and burnt his finger. Skaara later used the lighter to reflect sunlight into Dr. Daniel Jackson's eyes to get his attention. (Stargate)
In 2008, after being charged not guilty in the Coalition of Planets trial against the Atlantis expedition, Richard Woolsey used a lighter to light his and John Sheppard's cigars. (SGA: "Inquisition")
Alternate reality[]
In an Alternate reality, where the public became aware of the Stargate Program during Anubis' attack on Earth, Cameron Mitchell used a lighter to smoke when Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter visited him. (SG1: "The Road Not Taken")
