Kyoto is a planet in the Milky Way galaxy. The Stargate that was on the planet was placed on board the Goa'uld Raiden's ha'tak flagship Katana. Kyoto is ruled by Ashikaga, one of Raiden's warlords, and is the most well-defended planet in Raiden's domain.
The people of Kyoto live in a similar society to that of feudal Japan. Kyoto is home to most of Raiden's Jaffa, who use the capital city as a training ground for the warriors who serve Raiden. Kyoto also has several Goa'uld laboratories where scientists and warriors improve the technology has. This has led to the weapons used by his Thunder and Lightning Guard, Thunder and Lightning staves, as well as his personal kara kesh.
