Kerkouane is the site of an ancient city in north-eastern Tunisia.
History[]
In 2004, after learning that a Stele Max Krahwinkle had found in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico was linked to the address of the Tau'ri, Dr. Daniel Jackson arrived at the site, invading upon a dig that Professor Siobhan Kelly was supervising much to her anger. Upon examining a stele, Daniel came to the realization that this was a missing Stargate address but one was incomplete.
Sometime later, Major General George S. Hammond revealed to Daniel's teammates, Colonel Jack O'Neill, Major Samantha Carter and Teal'c that Daniel would be returning to the SGC the following night and bringing Kelly with him with Hammond revealing Dr. Kelly was not pleased when the team from Area 51 shut her down so she had some strings pulled. In exchange for Whitehall's continued silence about the Stargate Program due to the British government feeling that since they were covering up the American's small scale invasion of Tunisian land, Kelly would be a representative of the Government and accompany SG-1 on any missions that would be undertaken following her discovery at Kerkouane. Failing that, the British government would not be able to keep the Stargate Program a secret and that in turn would lead to a diplomatic nightmare if the Tunisians had gotten wind of the activities of the Area 51 team.
