The AK-47 is a Tau'ri made firearm, which was built and designed by the Russians since the end of World War II. The AK-47 and its derivatives are widely used by the Russian military, Raul's faction in Honduras, the Taliban in Afghanistan, the Cult of Setesh, and a good number of other people. The rifle is designed with reliability in mind and sacrifices some degree of accuracy (in most variants) to achieve this. It is simply and sturdily designed.

Variants

Variations of this rifle are manufactured in many calibers and in many places. (SG1: "Seth", "Desperate Measures", "Evolution") (SGA: "Phantoms")

  • The AKM was an improved version of the AK-47.
  • The AK-74 is a variant chambered for the 5.45x39mm Soviet round.
  • The AKS-74U is an assault-carbine variant of the AK-74.
  • The Zastava M80 and M80A are Serbian clones of the AKM chambered for the 5.56x45mm NATO round. They also carried a SVD sniper rifle and a PKM machinegun. (SG1: "Metamorphosis")
  • The Zastava M85 is a Serbian clone of the AK-74U chambered for the 5.56x45mm NATO round. Colonel Zhukhov carried one on the mission to P2X-338 (SG1: "The Tomb")
