Joma secu is a Jaffa word meaning "rite of leadership". A Jaffa warrior can challenge a leader in joma secu which results to a fight to the death. In the fight both warriors are given either staff weapons or training weapons and fight until one emerges the victor. Joma secu was used within Jaffa resistance groups. Examples of joma secu
- Teal'c once challenged K'tano for leadership of the Jaffa Resistance Movement after he learned that K'tano had betrayed the Jaffa to the Goa'uld System Lords. He won the challenge and ended up killing K'tano after learning he was in fact the Goa'uld Imhotep. (SG1: "The Warrior")
- Neith once challenged Ishta for leadership of the Hak'tyl as he had feared she lost her way in overconfidence in dealing with the Tau'ri. (SG1: "Birthright")
