Jason Momoa is an actor who portrayed Ronon Dex in Stargate Atlantis. He was born on August 1, 1979 in Honolulu, Hawaii and was raised in Norwalk, Iowa by his mother. He is 6′4″ (1.93 m) and of mixed Hawaiian and Caucasian descent.
In 1998, he returned to Hawaii where he was discovered by international designer Takeo and launched his modeling career. In 1999 he won Hawaii's Model of the Year and hosted the Miss Teen Hawaii contest. Momoa is best known for his roles as Jason Ioane (1999-2001) in Baywatch Hawaii and Baywatch Hawaiian Wedding (both co-starring Brandy Ledford) and as Ronon Dex (2005-2009), an elite firearms and mêlée warrior in Stargate: Atlantis.
On July 23, 2007 Lisa Bonet gave birth to their first child, a girl, named Lola Iolani Momoa. On December 15, 2008, Bonet and Momoa had another child: a son, named Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa.
After season 4 shooting was over, Jason Momoa had his dreadlocks cut off. The weight of them was causing him headaches, whiplash when filming action scenes, and even tearing at the roots. They were sewn back on for the start of Season 5 filming in July, 2008.
He is also stars as the titular character in Conan The Barbarian remake.
He had a large role in the first season of HBO's Game of Thrones as Khal Drogo and also appeared in the movie, Debug directed by his former Stargate Atlantis co-star, British-born Canadian actor David Hewlett (Meredith Rodney McKay) which was released in Hewlett's native United Kingdom on November 3, 2014 and follows the storyline of six young computer hackers fighting to survive on a ship being controlled by a psychopathic A.I with Momoa playing the main villain of the movie.
