The Jackal Guard Anubis on Abydos
Jackal Guards were the elite Jaffa of the System Lord Anubis.

After Anubis was banished by the System Lords, Ra took over his territory and integrated the Jackal Guard into his own contingent of Jaffa. His takeover was so complete that, at the time, no other Goa'uld could recruit any Jackal Guard for their own forces. The Jackal Guards represented Ra's considerable power and ability to overthrow even the most powerful Goa'uld and steal their resources for his own.[1] (RPG: "Living Gods: Stargate System Lords")
While on Abydos, Ra's Horus Guards were led by a Jackal guard named Anubis. And he wasn't the first one: in Earth, the year 3,000 BC, when the population rebelled against Ra, they killed several Jaffa, included a Jackal Guard. Their remains were found under the Stargate buried, in 1928. Their remnants were kept in a closed room under Cheyenne Mountain. (Stargate)
After Ra's death and the return of Anubis, some of the Jackal Guards returned to their original master, while others were adapted into the ranks of other Goa'uld forces.[1] (RPG: "Living Gods: Stargate System Lords")
