The House of Ground and Sea, also known as the Melipoli, is one of the Great Houses of the Aturen.

Overview

The House of Ground and Sea is the largest of the Great Houses. They have the most hospitals and research facilities on Atura and they rarely leave the planet. They are traditionalists when it comes to the Creed and prefer to follow it as diligently and faithfully as they can.

They believe in the pursuit of diplomacy first. Melipoli always make time to talk to others and during debates they often share anecdotes and stories from their lives to try to get their point across.

History

The House of Ground and Sea was responsible for instigating the Great War. Since the war, they became staunch traditionalists with the Creed.

During the time of the Tau'ri's war with the Goa'uld, they understood that the Goa'uld left no choice but to take a stand, though the Melipoli believed war could still be avoided. The Melipoli weren't against defending Atura and helping liberate other species in the galaxy. Members of the Melipoli served Phoenix Site. The Melipoli were at odds with the Valingar, who requested that the Tok'ra and Tau'ri send military advisors to their people in exchange for technology. (RPG: "Core Rulebook")
