Hockey refers to a family of sports in which two teams play against each other by trying to maneuver a ball, or a puck, into the opponent's goal, using a hockey stick. The game is sometimes played on ice.

Major John Sheppard told the story of Friday the 13th to some Athosian children, but when the children were not frightened by the imagery Major Sheppard used of the attacker wearing a hockey mask, he tried to explain the game to the children. Dr. Rodney McKay was somewhat fond of this game too. (SGA: "Hide and Seek")

• Some Stargate SG-1 cast and crew were also part of a hockey team that played against other Vancouver-based television shows such as Smallville.
• Michael Shanks and Dan Shea even considered playing ice hockey professionally.
