A Hive queen was a position held by the high ranking Wraith females and held a great deal of power within their society. When one queen wished to annex the powers of another, this was usually done by assassination. (Though this was done personally by the opposing queen, not by a subject or a hired assassin) Many queens were quite arrogant and refused to meet in diplomatic relations with Wraith hives that did not have a queen.
Overview
These Wraith queens typically controlled a Hive ship and ruled the her people with great strength with no subject daring to go against her in any decision. (SGA: "Spoils of War") They typically resided in special throne rooms on their vessels where they commanded the culling of worlds or engaging in battles against rival hives. (SGA: "The Hive", "No Man's Land")
They were typically guarded by a number of Wraith warriors and sometimes would be tended to by Wraith worshippers. (SGA: "The Hive")
