A Hive queen was a position held by the high ranking Wraith females and held a great deal of power within their society. When one queen wished to annex the powers of another, this was usually done by assassination. (Though this was done personally by the opposing queen, not by a subject or a hired assassin) Most queens were quite arrogant and refused to meet in diplomatic relations with Wraith hives that did not have a queen.
