Hieroglyphs translation

Dr. Daniel Jackson translating hieroglyphs.

Hieroglyphs refers to the characters made by graphical figures, be it animals, objects, or concepts that concern the religions' gods.

Dr. Daniel Jackson corrected the previous translation of hieroglyphs regarding the Stargate coverstone. (Stargate) He also spent some time on the planet Abydos translating a Cartouche containing hieroglyphs. (SG1: "Children of the Gods")

The Goa'uld often used hieroglyphs on board their vessels to adorn the walls, some of which serve a function (e.g. door control).(SG1: "Within the Serpent's Grasp")

  • Etymologically, the original term means "holy symbol/sign" in Ancient Greek.
