Hebridan was a planet in the Milky Way galaxy that was home to the Hebridians, a human race.
History[]
The Serrakins came centuries ago to this planet and helped the Hebridians to get free from Goa'uld control. They also offered technological advancements. Some Hebridian groups have been known to claim that Serrakins are given favoured treatment, but these claims have always been refuted, any 'prejudice' shown simply based on the Hebridians' own actions rather than a meaningless prejudice. It's also known to happen that the two races mix in marriage.
Based on the city shown on this planet, Hebridan civilization has a high level of technological development, with several modern skyscraper-style buildings, numerous airways that connect the capital to others cities of the planet, flying vehicles, and advertising with mountains full of life visible in the distance.
This civilization has power sources available for sale for use on ships that rivals the Tau'ri Naquadah generator, but at the time Warrick and Eamon Finn could not afford one for their ship, the Sebrus. (SG1: "Forsaken", "Space Race")
In 2006, shortly after the devastation of Dakara, Hebridan was reported conquered by the Ori, and has not been heard from since. (SG1: "Counterstrike")
Hebridan was liberated after SG-1 used the Ark of Truth and the Serrakin and Hebridians began to live in freedom. (SG1: "The Ark of Truth")
Hebridan seems to have several off-world colonies which haven't seen, but mentioned. There is at least one prison colony and several mining. (SG1: "Forsaken", "Space Race")
Locations[]
Behind the scenes[]
- In "Space Race" when the planet could be seen from space, a piece of land on the right side of the planet looks exactly like the Arabian Peninsular and the Indian Sub-continent on Earth, but inverted both horizontally and vertically.
- Images of the planet show numerous ships in orbit, possibly warships. Further shots show this fleet not to be taking part in the Loop of Kon Garat. However, due to what we know about Hebridians and the Loop, they may in fact be transport or rescue ships. We can also see many other ships entering and leaving the planet, showing that the traffic is very high between the planet Hebridan and the other worlds of this civilization.
- Presumably named for the Hebrides archipelago off western Scotland, to which the adjective 'Hebridean' applies in the real world.
