Heavy water, otherwise known as deuterium oxide is water with its hydrogens (protium) replaced with deuterium atoms, which could construct nuclear weapons. Much of Eurondan technology is powered by the heavy water as an effective means of fuel. SG-1 decided to supply the Eurondans the heavy water, since they were scarce of the substance and the fact that 70% of Earth's surface is water.
