A heads up display, or HUD, is any transparent display that presents data without requiring the user to look away from his or her usual viewpoint. The origin of the name stems from the user being able to view information with their head "up" and looking forward, instead of angled down looking at lower instruments.

HUD02

The view from inside the Asgard suit.

Asgard armored exoskeleton

The helmet of the Armored exoskeleton used by the Vanir has a Heads up display in the visor. It displays various information about the user's surroundings, such as indicating potential dangers in red, and fellow protective suits in green, depending on the user's field of view. It was also able to access the schematics of the Attero device, correctly indicating which control crystal should be pulled to deactivate the endgame machine.(SGA: "The Lost Tribe")

HUD04

John Sheppard activates the Puddle jumper HUD.

Puddle Jumper

"It's like it reads your mind."
John Sheppard

Like many of the other onboard systems, The HUD of the Puddle Jumper is entirely intuitive. Appearing on the main viewing window of the Jumper, it displays pertinent information about anything the pilot is thinking about. It also activates automatically to display important information to the pilot, such as nearby vessels, weapons fire or anomalous energy readings. (SGA: "Rising")

Wraith Dart

The HUD inside a Wraith dart.

"The whole thing is one giant heads up display. It'll show you all the pertinent information you need."
Rodney McKay

When the canopy of a Wraith Dart forms it is completely opaque. The heads up display appears on the underside of the canopy in one large, curved interface. It is used in most of the basic functionality of a Dart including flight, firing weapons and use of the DHD and the transport beam. When a Wraith Dart approaches a Hive Ship, the HUD minimizes as an autopilot is activated. If there is matter in the storage device, the pilot has the option to rematerialize the cargo. Arthur's Mantle

Daniel Jackson locates the Sangraal.

Arthur's Mantle

"What invention could have been so important that it lead him to give up his ascension?"
"A weapon...a weapon capable of destroying ascended beings.
"
Samantha Carter and Daniel Jackson

Arthur's Mantle is the name for the interdimentional device invented by Merlin as a way to hide from Ascended Ancients. The holographic HUD is projected upward from the device and is triangular in shape, but can only be seen by those who are out-of-phase. It displays - in Ancient language - Merlin's log, detailing the reason for the creation of the "Mantle", as well as the creation of a weapon capable of destroying the Ori. The display is touch interactive, allowing the user to navigate through the sections of the log, but all other interaction is done using the keyboard on the actual device. (SG1: "Arthur's Mantle")

Control Chair

"This chair controls the most powerful weapons known to Humankind, I'm afraid of the thing."
Elizabeth Weir

Control chairs are chairs created by the Alterans for the purpose of activating and controlling their most vital systems and are entirely controlled by thought. Only those with the ATA gene can activate one and do so simply by sitting in the chair. Once activated and accessing certain systems, the chair reclines. Depending on the function, which is determined by the user, a heads-up display is then projected holographically above the chair. Known displays are star charts, and the Royal Court of the Tower used the chair as a means to survey their subjects in the villages using the City-ship's advanced sensors. (SGA: "Rising", "The Tower")

Daedalus-class ship

"I don't believe what I'm seeing."
"Sheppard's actually getting them to fire at each other.
"
Caldwell and Lorne

A HUD can be pulled up on the center window of a 304's bridge. The transparent display overlays icons on to real-world objects that can be seen through the window, such as various enemy ships and other points of interest. Much like the HUD of a Puddle Jumper, the view from the bridge remains unobstructed, meaning pilots and crew can still see the battlefield, and even weapons fire dissipating the shield before them. (SGA: "The Hive")

Destiny

As the Destiny Expedition explored more of the Ancient vessel, they encountered the Control interface room where Nicholas Rush pulls up a HUD showcasing a fraction of Destiny's prior flight path throughout the universe. (SGU: "Air, Part 1") The HUD is often seen henceforth used by Rush to explain various situations regarding the ships actions or the actions of objects around them in space. (SGU: "Space", "Divided", "Incursion, Part 1", "Incursion, Part 2")
