The hara'kesh is a weapon used almost exclusively by the Ashrak.
Overview[]
The device fits snugly around the middle and ring finger and is capable of detecting a Goa'uld or Tok'ra symbiote. When activated, it emits a beam that causes incredible pain, and is considered a debasing form of execution. It presumably requires naquadah within the bloodstream, similar to the kara kesh and Goa'uld healing device. (SG1: "In the Line of Duty")
The hara'kesh was constructed long ago by the Ashrak as a means for them to use the deadly abilities of a kara kesh without overt signs of them being discovered as a Goa'uld. It remained exclusively among the Ashrak who guarded its secrets jealously. They were triggered by the brain wave pattern of their master. It was capable of many of the operations that a kara kesh was able to accomplish such as energy conduits, kinetic blasts and damage the nervous system of living beings. However, due to their smaller size, they were incapable of generating shields and were short ranged; they could only be used on objects up to 5 feet away.
However, an interesting variation with these devices was that they could be customised by the user for other tasks and given certain unique abilities that would surprise the Ashrak's enemies. (RPG: "Friends and Foes: Stargate Season Two")
Capabilities[]
They could be customised with one ability such as:
- Healing
- Sending an electrical charge by touch
- Generating an electronic form of brainwashing known as mind fog
- Sending a dread neural spike to damage the connection between a symbiote and its host
- Generating a forward circular shield to protect the wearer
- Set to overload
- Used as a cutting torch against obstacles. (RPG: "Friends and Foes: Stargate Season Two")
History[]

The hara'kesh being used to kill a Symbiote.
The Ashrak which followed Jolinar of Malkshur to Earth used his hara'kesh to heal his wounds. He then used it to scan for the presence of a symbiote in a wounded Nasyan male, trying to find Jolinar. The Ashrak would later use the hara'kesh to manipulate the mind of an Air Force officer to let him pass through a check point. When he confronted Jolinar the Ashrak used the hara'kesh to kill the symbiote. (SG1: "In the Line of Duty")
Sokar used the weapon on Apophis before the escape of the latest. Apophis would eventually die of this among other injuries at Stargate Command, but was later resurrected by Sokar with a sarcophagus. (SG1: "Serpent's Song")
