The Great Attack was a major event in Athosian history, which involved a particularly violent culling by the Wraith while the Athosians were technologically advanced. Because technologically advanced civilizations are a threat to the Wraith, they sent a fleet of Hive Ships to attack and proceeded to wipe out almost all of the Athosians. Those who survived managed to hide inside the caves on Athos, where they were able to produce stone drawings, telling the tale of the Great Attack to the other Athosians in future generations. After the attack, the Athosians halted city living and became simple farmers and traders. (SGA: "Rising")
