"Not too hot, not too cold."
Everett Young[src]

The Goldilocks zone planet (named after the term "goldilocks zone") is a planet in the same unnamed solar system as "Big Bertha". As the Ancient ship, Destiny, was on course to collide with a nearby Star, a shuttle with 15 passengers, piloted by Lt. Matthew Scott, was sent to the planet with the hope of survival. However, as the shuttle approached "Goldilocks", it was discovered that there was very little carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and that the temperature rarely rose above 0 degrees centigrade. Therefore, there would be little vegetation on the planet, and survival would be difficult.

Fortunately, Destiny was not destroyed in the star as expected, but instead emerged from the other side of it, partially recharged (about 40%). With communications online again, Colonel Everett Young radioed the shuttle and told them to return. However, Scott discovered that Destiny was increasing in speed and was gaining distance from the shuttle. A plan was devised, with calculations from Eli Wallace, to preform a slingshot maneuver around "Goldilocks". Using the planet's gravity, the speed of the shuttle was increased enough that Scott was able to reach and land (albeit roughly) on Destiny. (SGU: "Light")
