Freyr is a member of the advanced Asgard race and has a position on the Asgard High Council. SG-1 first encountered Freyr when they met with the Asgard High Council on K'Tau regarding the damage of the K'Tau sun. Freyr is mentioned again in the episode "Fail Safe", where SG-1 meets with the Asgard High Council about an asteroid threatening earth. Freyr and the rest of the Asgard High Council cannot intervene because the Protected Planets Treaty does not allow them to be protected against natural disasters. Freyr also appears in the episode "Revelations" where an Asgard Fleet confronts Anubis's motherships.
