Dr. Francine Michaels is a female Tau'ri who was stationed at the White Rock Research Station in Antarctica since the Beta Gate's discovery in 1998.

She was amongst the people who found Ayiana in the ice in 2002. She named Ayiana after the Cherokee word for "eternal bloom" as her grandfather was one-quarter Cherokee. She was the first to show symptoms of the Ancient contagion and was later cured by Ayiana. (SG1: "Frozen")
