A Foothold situation, or simply Foothold, is when an aggressor has large control over an enemy's military base or other installation inside enemy territory.

Known foothold situations

Stargate Command

Atlantis

  • 2004: During a large Storm the Expedition Team have to leave Atlantis and a enforcement Genii took Atlantis, until Sheppard. Ford, and Teyla stopped them. (SGA: "The Storm", "The Eye")
  • 2005: During the Battle of Atlantis, several Wraith beamed into Atlantis. (SGA: "The Siege, Part 2")
  • 2006: Thalan and Phoebus, whilst taking control of Lt. Col. Sheppard and Dr. Weir respectively locked down Atlantis and threatened to kill hundreds of expedition members with Halon gas. (SGA: "The Long Goodbye")
  • 2008: Michael and a few of his hybrids infiltrated Atlantis to destroy it and capture Teyla's baby. They were nearly succesfull, but the hybrids were killed by Sheppard and a team of marines who shot them and Michael was finally killed when Teyla knocked him off a balcony on the top of the Control Tower.
