Fainting is a medical term for a temporary loss of consciousness.

In 2004, Dr. Rodney McKay fainted twice during the Skirmish with the Shadow creature. He first fainted from hunger, as he hadn't been able to eat due to being unable to remove a Personal shield emitter. He then later passed out after he entered the Shadow creature and lured it out of Atlantis with a naquadah generator through the Stargate. (SGA: "Hide and Seek")

In 2006, during the Goa'uld attempt to destroy Atlantis, the Atlantis expedition needed a code to re-enable the ZPM failsafes. Dr. Peter Kavanagh was their prime suspect, but he was innocent, and didn't know it. Dr. Elizabeth Weir let Ronon Dex try to get the code from him and Kavanagh fainted under the threat of Ronon. Later that year, the Flagisallus tried to warn the Atlantis expedition of a Coronal mass ejection and the pod went to Atlantis for safety. Their echolocation was a harmful to Humans due to its intense low-frequency pulse and EM field combination. One of its effects was passing out. When Lt. Colonel John Sheppard and Rodney McKay went into the ocean in a Puddle Jumper to check the Flagisallus out, their echolocation caused Rodney to pass out. Later on, in Atlantis, both Teyla Emmagan and Dr. Elizabeth Weir also lost consciousness. (SGA: "Echoes")
