Ethlos, designated P3B-103, was planet with a Stargate. It was the homeworld of the Ethloninans. The architecture and culture on Ethlos was similar to Earths 1930s culture and their technology level appeared similar to the Tau'ri's early 20th Century.
History[]
There was a worldwide famine on Ethlos, until an Aschen named Klorem arrived through the Stargate and solved their problem by genetically modifying their crops to increase their yield.[3]
About 2 years later, Klorem suddenly turned on the Ethloninans and released Mutated locust onto Ethlos through the Stargate. The locusts rapidly multiplied and laid waste to the planet.[3]
Three months later,[4] Phoenix team visited the planet after Phoenix Site thought Ethlos could possibly be the source of an outbreak of locust across the Stargate Network.[2]
By this time, only one city was left standing on Ethlos. To combat the locust, the Ethloninans had created a potent pesticide,[5] which they had begun loading onto their Ethloninan dirigibles, however, they knew that the pesticide would irreparably damage the ecosystem on Ethlos. Also, the pesticide would take weeks to work, and by then it could be too late for Ethlos.[4]
Dr. Jasmine Liira, the Ethloninan's foremost scientist, was aware of a fungus solution that could kill the locust[5] and believed she could make it more effective and kill the locust immediately if she could find Klorem's hidden laboratory or with the Phoenix teams assistance.[4]
If the Phoenix team succeeded in their mission, Ethlos would be rid of the locust plague for good.[6]
If the team failed, the team and some citizens evacuated to a Zeta Site, while Commander Greer and her soldiers remained to ensure no locust escape through the Stargate.[6] (RPG: "Ecology")
