"What is Major Kawalsky doing in the Embarkation room?"

The Embarkation room, also known as the Gate room, is an area located on Level 28 in Stargate Command.

Overview[]

Embarkation room

The Embarkation room

This room is where the Earth Stargate is being held. It is so called the Embarkation room, for the purpose of SG teams who embark on missions to other planets. However, it also serves as the disembarkation room for SG teams to arrive back to Earth after returning from various missions. (SG1: "2010")

The room used to be situated on the bottom of a missile silo, as there is a missile tube leading up to the open surface, so the Stargate could make its way in, or out of the room. (SG1: "Redemption, Part 2"), (SG1: "1969")

Since it is the location of the Stargate, the room would be the first to be under attack from alien incursions, particularly from the Goa'uld, Jaffa, Replicators, Ori and even the Wraith on one occasion. Every time a incoming wormhole is detected, a large platoon of armed guards arrive into the room and aim their weapons on the Stargate in case of any uninvited guests. The guards are usually dispatched if there are unscheduled offworld activations, or if SG teams are coming in hot, i.e., if they are under attack from enemy forces such as Jaffa troops associated with the Goa'uld. Any "Foothold situation" exercise, therefore, almost always begins with the loss of the embarkation room. (SG1: "Cold Lazarus", "Chain Reaction", "Orpheus", "Reckoning, Part 2", SGA: "Midway")

The room contains two spinning klaxons, one next to each exit door; additionally, two vibrating klaxons exist on either side of the Stargate. One stationary klaxon exists in the control room, above the gate technician's head, and stationary klaxons are found throughout the rest of the base. (SG1: "Shadow Play", "Sight Unseen", "Metamorphosis")

History[]

Following the incident, the Stargate Program was brought back online once more. (SG1: "Children of the Gods")

In 2004, this room was used by the Atlantis expedition with the Expedition heading through the Stargate here to set up operations in the recently discovered Lost City of the Ancients, Atlantis. (SGA: "Rising")
