Elara Tydel, an Aturen field research zoologist, was a member of Phoenix-4, one of the various forward-deployment teams of the Phoenix Site. Her role was team Medic. A young member of a prominent family in House Tydel, Elara was the precocious middle child of five. She had light skin and pink-purple irises, with long silvery hair dyed in traditional blues, pinks, and greens. She added various leaf and twig adornments in accordance with Aturen custom.

Biography

Background Information

Elara was born and raised in the capital city of House Tydel. She graduated with honors from Iriala University with a Preliminary Degree (equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree) in Biology and Exploratory Degrees (equivalent of a Master's Degree) in Botany and Zoology. She pioneered the research of the animals and plant life of the Ulaye swamp. Elara was teased by friends and family, asserting that she had "Eiteldar eyes," given her penchant for exploration and discovery.

2002

In August 2002, Elara was assigned to Phoenix-4 as the team's medic.

2003

Elara briefed Phoenix-1 on the status of the Tretonin research and the apparent dead end they reached. She informed them that, per her recommendation, General Philip Kevin Loyer reached out to the Aturen Parliament for assistance, but they had yet to respond to the request. Weapons

Elara uses the following weapons in place of the usual firearms found in the 1-Prep Base Kit:

• Tranquilizer gun: A Mauser pistol modified to fire tranquilizer darts. Elara has concocted her own special tranquilizer serum.
• Sedative: A pneumatic injector which delivers a strong tranquilizer directly to a target.
• M4-T Tranquilizer Rifle: An M4 weapon platform modified to fire Elara's tranquilizer darts.

Armor

• Tactical vest: Elara wears a standard-issue Phoenix tactical vest supplied by the United States Air Force.

Gear

In addition to the 1-Prep Base Kit, Elara carries the following gear:

• Medical Kit: to which she has added several items, including a supply of emergency stimulants and a portable crash kit.
• Tablet Computer
• Translator: A reference device containing several languages cataloged in the ASH Archive.
• Standard Issue Care Package: Also known as the "Friendmaker," this cache of snacks and treats is often used by Phoenix teams.
• Climbing kit: A set of specialized climbing tools, which Elara often uses to fashion emergency medical tools, or to reach patients which are in difficult areas.
