Around the year 3,000 BC, a rebellion took place, forcing Ra to flee from Egypt and Earth. (Stargate) (SG1: "Moebius, Part 1")
In 1928, Professor Paul Langford discovered the alpha Stargate in Giza. The DHD had been discovered by a German expedition in 1906 and was taken by the Russians after the end of World War II in 1945. (SG1: "Watergate", "The Tomb")
In 2000, Osiris escaped from Earth with a starship located here, despite the efforts of Daniel Jackson, Samantha Carter and Janet Fraiser to stop Osiris. (SG1: "The Curse")

Behind the scenes[]
Much of Ancient Egyptian Mythology is used as one of the main storylines in the Stargate universe. For instance most Goa'uld were named after the gods from this period (Ra, Apophis, Hathor, Osiris, Isis, Anubis, Heru'ur, Seth)
