Don S. Davis PhD played the character of Major General George S. Hammond on Stargate SG-1, guest starring on Stargate: Atlantis and Stargate: Continuum. He was an army Captain stationed in Korea. He was a stuntman, painter, and sculptor. He had a PhD in "dramatic theory and criticism".

Long term health issues forced him to leave the SG-1's regular cast at the end of the Season 7. However he remained available to reprise his role as General Hammond, sometimes in place of another character. These include both parts of "The Fourth Horseman" and "The Road Not Taken" when then-Air Force Chief of Staff General John Jumper and William Devane respectively were unavailable and the scripts were rewritten to include General Hammond.
