- "Nice device. We'll take a dozen."
- ―Jack O'Neill[src]
The Detachment device was used during the triad of Klorel, after his host, Skaara, crashed on Tollana and asked the Tollan to have his symbiote removed. The silencer can subdue a Goa'uld symbiote's control over the host, allowing the host to speak for themselves. This allowed Skaara to speak on his own behalf without interference from Klorel. The device is worn over the chest, and is equipped with a light on the front - red shines when the symbiote is in control, blue when the host is.
The detachment device is also capable of being permanently locked in one mode so the host or the symbiote has priority control over the body. This was done by the Tollan when Skaara was ruled to have priority over Klorel. (SG1: "Pretense")
