"We have no idea where we are in relation to Earth"
Matthew Scott

Destiny is a ship in the Ancient fleet constructed millions of years before Atlantis. The Ancients launched the automated ship millions of years ago to seed Stargates throughout many galaxies, with a second ship planned to follow it up and explore those planets. However, after beginning this process, they began concentrating on ascension. Due to this preoccupation, they never followed through on the plan.

In 2009, Earth discovered that the Stargate's mysterious ninth chevron can be utilized to gate directly to the Destiny, opening up literally the whole universe to explore. However, because the ship is on a programmed course, the team discovered that they have no way back to Earth. (Stargate Universe)

Specifications

The Destiny itself is relatively flat and triangular in shape. The left and right sides are markedly concaved, while the aft portion of the ship is convexly rounded. The ship itself is very long and becomes more narrow towards the front. The surface of the ship is covered with layers of textural elements.

Some doors in the Destiny's interior are accompanied by a small control panel, much like Atlantis has panels containing control crystals that control some of the doors there. The small blue light on the Destiny door panel indicates the door is on automatic. Beneath that, the amber and red lights indicate whether the door is locked or unlocked, respectively. Below the large round button, along the bottom of the panel, are 8 small buttons with ancient writing on them that allow for manual overrides or door code changes.
