The Core drive was a component of an Aurora-class battleship's ship's tracking system.
Overview[]
This device allowed a user to pinpoint the locations and movements of every Aurora class vessel in the galaxy. It appeared as a small Lantean style tablet that carried the necessary information. (SGA: "This Mortal Coil")
- It is very possible that the ships it tracks can be tampered with to stop transmitting their location as it did not reveal the Asuran Aurora-class ship used by Niam's faction.
History[]
A core drive was given to a nanite constructed copy of Elizabeth Weir and a duplicate version of Atlantis expedition's flagship team in order to provide the ability to track the Asuran fleets in the galaxy. (SGA: "This Mortal Coil")
This information was used by the real expedition to coordinate their 304's deployments in order to ambush the Asuran warships as they came out of hyperspace. (SGA: "Be All My Sins Remember'd")
