- " Ooh, he's colicky, huh?"
"Doctor Keller says it is a phase that will pass." - ―Dr. Rodney McKay and Teyla Emmagan[src]
Colic is a medical condition in which an otherwise healthy infant has frequent and prolonged phases of intense crying or fussiness for more than three hours a day for more than three days a week. It often occurs in the evening. Typically, the condition goes away by the time the infant is six months. The cause for colic isn't known.
History[]
Teyla Emmagan's son, Torren John Emmagan, was colic. Teyla and Kanaan would take turns walking him in an attempt to get him to sleep, as Teyla found that walking was the best way to calm him. (SGA: "The Prodigal")
Dr. Rodney McKay told Teyla not to worry about it and that he had been a colicky baby too. He suggested to do what his mother would do, which was just let him cry himself to sleep. As he didn't think he was any worse for it. (SGA: "The Prodigal")
