The Cimmerians are a people from Earth settled by the Asgard to ensure their free development. (SG1: "Thor's Hammer", "Thor's Chariot")
The Cimmerians are a generally peaceful tribe who live on fishing, hunting and farming. Their homeworld falls under the Protected Planets Treaty, meaning that it's protected from the Goa'uld by the Asgard.
