Battle[]
While escaping from Chulak, Major Charles Kawalsky is infected with a Goa'uld who can only take control of him periodically as it's still not completely mature. Complaining of a headache, Kawalsky visits Dr. Nimzicki, but the Goa'uld takes control and kills him when the doctor finds the spot that the Goa'uld entered through. Later, when Dr. William Warner does an MRI and discovers it, the Goa'uld takes control again and escapes as Warner activates the alarm.
The Goa'uld travels to the Stargate Operations room where it beats up the technicians and tries to dial the Stargate, but is found by Captain Samantha Carter who it takes hostage and uses to get into an elevator that it starts to take to the surface. The Goa'uld throws Carter against a wall, knocking her out, but before it can do anymore, Kawalsky regains control with no memory of what happened and stops the elevator upon seeing Carter hurt. Kawalsky is strapped down and after the idea of trying to surgically remove the Goa'uld is revealed as dangerous by Teal'c as the Goa'uld will likely kill the host if its tried, the Goa'uld is offered its freedom in exchange for leaving Kawalsky permanently. It refuses and its decided to try to surgically remove the Goa'uld. Using an anesthetic picked out by experimenting on Teal'c's Goa'uld, the operation goes ahead and the Goa'uld is removed with apparently no ill effects for Kawalsky. However, the Goa'uld has in reality gained permanent control over Kawalsky's body and claiming to want to thank Teal'c, approaches him offering to serve it and when he refuses, it briefly chokes him, confirming the Goa'uld has officially taken over Kawalsky, leaving the original consciousness of the host dead. The Goa'uld then knocks out the guards outside and heads to the Control Room.
In the Control Room, it injures MSgt. Walter Harriman and dials the Stargate to Chulak, setting the base Self-destruct at the same time. The Goa'uld tries to escape through the Stargate, but is stopped by Teal'c who fights him in front of the Gate. Colonel Jack O'Neill and Major General George S. Hammond deactivate the self-destruct before O'Neill has Teal'c hold Kawalsky's head partially in the event horizon then has Harriman shut down the Stargate, cutting off part of the top of Kawalsky's head, killing him and the Goa'uld who is revealed to have still had a piece of itself in Kawalsky's head which falls out and shrivels up when Kawalsky is killed.[3]
