A camcorder is a handheld device, a portmanteau of camera and recorder, capable of recording live images and sounds as they happen. (SG1: "Heroes, Part 1", "Heroes, Part 2")

In 2005, Dr. Rodney McKay and Teyla Emmagan used a camcorder to as a "MALP on a stick" to see the other side of a Time dilation field where Lt. Colonel John Sheppard had been trapped. (SGA: "Epiphany")
