Biochemistry is the study of the chemical processes in living organisms. It deals with the structures and functions of cellular components such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids and other biomolecules. The Hoffan people had developed a basic understanding of Biochemistry and such techniques were used by Perna and Dr. Carson Beckett to refine the hoffan protein to become a viable drug.
