The Barque of Heaven is a lush planet located at the end of the Trial of Ra.

Description[]

Accessible via ring transporter from the last planet of the Trial of Ra, the Barque of Heaven is a lush planet full of beautiful plants. It is where Bes resides and where participants in the Trial of Ra finish their journey. Here, participants would have to decide on whether they wished to keep the knowledge from the Books of Djehuti or the language before being allowed to move on. According to Bes, having the participants end up on the Barque of Heaven was a little whimsy of Ra's where he would promise them Heaven at his side but it would never last.

The planet's point of origin symbol is a simple circle that likely represents the sun.

History[]

When the Trial of Ra was active before Ra's death, the participants who succeeded would end up on the planet. It was designed by Ra as a resting place before they moved on to serve him where they could heal their injuries and refresh themselves. After capturing Bes, Ra also trapped him on this planet though he could move around through the Trial planets with Bes remaining trapped for 10,000 years.

In 1999, SG-1 was forced into the Trial of Ra by the System Lord Mat to get revenge for his death. Upon learning of the Barque of Heaven, SG-1 suspected it to be a ship of some sort and were shocked when they arrived on a planet. After their arrival, Teal'c chose to take Ra's histories and Bes healed SG-1's injuries. After learning of the death of Ra and the destruction of his ka, Bes traveled to the location where the participants of the Trial were sent and found it abandoned, proving SG-1's story. Finally free, Bes departed the Barque of Heaven with another of his kind.

When Bes departed, SG-1 found themselves transported to the planet's Stargate, located a distance from the buffet tables with their gear, taken by Bes during the Trial, waiting for them. With the device preventing anyone from dialing outside of the Trial network disconnected, Major Samantha Carter was able to dial Earth with the point of origin being mysteriously pressed for her before she could identify it, likely by Bes. Following the departure of SG-1, the Barque of Heaven was left forever abandoned. (SG1: "The Barque of Heaven")
