Avaris, designated P3X-465 by the Tau'ri, is a planet in the Milky Way galaxy, which was the homeworld of the Goa'uld Ashtoreth.

Avaris' Stargate is not on the planet itself, but on a damaged and abandoned Ha'tak in orbit. The planet also has three suns.

History[]

Goa'uld War[]

Long ago, the planet's goddess Ashtoreth continually undermined her husband that she was forced to marry by her father, until her husband denounced her and moved to imprison her. Ashtoreth fled to Avaris where a war then took place in orbit, between her on one side, and her former husband on the other. Ba'al was allied with Isis and Osiris. Isis wanted revenge on Ashtoreth, due to having been one of her victims when Ashtoreth had fought for her father and Isis was one of his enemies.

Ashtoreth lost, and her temples on Avaris were razed to the ground and her people taken as slaves.

Later[]

Sometime later, Avaris was visited by Phoenix-1 after the Tok'ra gave them the address. The planet's obit is still littered with debris of the war, such as active Naquadah enhanced space mines, EMP pulse bombs, and broken and abandoned Ha'taks.

An Ashtoreth temple remains with many murals defaced. There is also a mural created by the war's victors that depicts Ba'al, Isis, and Osiris, torturing a host with a Rod of Anguish until the symbiote left the body and was subsequently captured into a canopic jar. Because of this mural, Ashtoreth's canopic jar is believed to still be on the planet. Avaris also still has people. (RPG: "Core Rulebook")
