- "I'm looking for a one-bedroom with a den, preferably with a balcony, but I'm not married to it."
- ―Rodney McKay[src]
Since Atlantis can house many people, there are also a lot of living quarters. There are living quarters across the city, some are located in the Central Tower such as John Sheppard's and Teyla's while there are larger "penthouse suites" such as Richard Woolsey's, located on the South-East Pier. Originally the Atlantis expedition were living in small quarters, but soon moved into larger ones. Some quarters have multiple rooms/areas including bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas, dining rooms and various other areas. Some rooms even have multiple access doors. (SGA: "Broken Ties", "Duet", "Sunday", "The Prodigal", "Remnants").
The windows of the quarters will automatically open if they are tapped by somebody with the ATA gene. (SGA: "Exogenesis")
Rooms are full of various pieces of furniture such as a bed, bedside table, desk, chairs and lounges. Richard Woolsey even had a wine rack and bookcases in his room (SGA: "Remnants")
The rooms are often decorated by the personnel, Rodney McKay has various degrees and photos on his wall.
Rodney once stated that he wanted large living quarters preferably with a balcony, but that he wasn't married to it. (SGA: "Before I Sleep")
