The Aschen Confederation is an interstellar political union in the Milky Way. It was a highly Aschen-dominated alliance, with it policies being of extreme secrecy. They invite newly discovered worlds to join as a member-world by sharing their advanced technology with them, only for the Aschen to gradually 'thin out' most of the population for their own purposes.
History[]
SG-1 made first contact with the Aschen Confederation on Volia and Earth begins membership talks to join the Aschen Confederation. In exchange, Earth will share with the Aschen their knowledge of the Stargate Network. However, the Stargate would have to be revealed to the public as the Aschen insisted that a treaty must be with all the nations of Earth, the Aschen also believed the current population growth is unsustainable. While they form an alliance, Dr. Daniel Jackson and Teal'c find clues on Volia about the Aschen past and eventually learned the truth about the Aschen's plans. The Aschen tried to send a Biogenic weapon to Earth through the Stargate, but it failed to penetrate the Iris. (SG1: "2001")
Eventually the Pack got in touch with the Aschen who offered them a place in their confederation, but they rejected the offer. This led the Pack being tricked into forming a secret alliance with Aschen, with their leader, Administrator Mirris seeking to arrange for the Pack to make contact with the Tau'ri with the goal of smuggling an Aschen bio-weapon onto Earth that would release a new version of the sterility pathogen on Earth. This plan was averted thanks to the efforts of Commander Jack O'Neill and his daughter Jade O'Neill from a future where the plan succeeded. (SG1: "Relativity")
Alternate timeline[]
- In an alternate timeline, Earth did become a member of the Aschen Confederation in 2000. Ten years later, the former members of SG-1 learned of the Aschen's plans, and were able to send a warning to the past by sending a note through the Stargate after opening it at the same time as a solar flare. (SG1: "2010")
Outside relations[]
While the Aschen offer membership to any planet by offering advanced technology, it is really a long term colonization method. The various "vaccines" and technological tools they offer are really attempts to render the native populations incapable of reproducing, culling the native population down to almost nothing and allowing the Aschen to take over their planet. (SG1: "2001")
