Amelia Banks is a member of the Atlantis expedition since around 2008. She, along with Chuck, is one of the city's technicians.

Biography[]

Background Information[]

Before joining the Atlantis expedition, she studied kickboxing for five years and is considerably skilled at it. (SGA: "The Prodigal")

2008[]

She was in Stargate Operations when a quarantine lockdown was imposed by an ionospheric storm the previous night. Before the city's self-destruct was activated by a supposed breach, she was able to restore the air conditioning to most of the central tower. Afterwards, she abseiled down six floors with Lt. Colonel John Sheppard, Major Evan Lorne and Chuck to reach the power room to disable the self-destruct. They were able to find Colonel Samantha Carter and Dr. Radek Zelenka. Because she restored the air system, Zelenka was able to use the air vents and made it to the Main power room to shut down power and deactivating the self-destruct. (SGA: "Quarantine")

When a Vanir spaceship arrived on Atlantis, she informed Lt. Colonel John Sheppard of the situation. She raised the shield, but it had no effect. After the city's Stargate and much of Stargate Operations was later destroyed by the activation of the Attero device, she helped set up an Auxiliary control center. After Sheppard agreed to pay five dollars to anyone who could find a way to contact the Daedalus, the ship, which was at the time hijacked by "Todd" managed to have made contact with the city. Though this did not count as finding a way to make contact with the Daedalus, Sheppard agreed to pay her later. (SGA: "First Contact", "The Lost Tribe")

After Michael Kenmore took over Atlantis to take Teyla Emmagan's child, Torren John Emmagan and sent the stunned crew in the control room, she was the second to come round after Ronon Dex. After she managed to open the door, due to her kickboxing skills, she was able to hold off one of Michael's hybrids before Ronon managed to shoot him. Later, Teyla asked her to look after Torren so she could assist in the pursuit of Michael. (SGA: "The Prodigal")

2009[]

During the Battle of the Super-hive, Banks was at work in Atlantis' Control Room and warned Woolsey that the shield was being drained fast. After learning that they only had enough power to keep fighting or pull up, Woolsey shared a look with her before ordering the clone of Carson Beckett who was flying the city to keep firing. Soon she warned that one more hit would take them out, but the city was saved by Sheppard who detonated a nuclear warhead aboard the hive ship and destroyed it. Banks visited Ronon in the infirmary after he and the team returned from having escaped the hive ship at the last second and flirted with him about his death and resurrection. Banks then led him to the Control Room balcony where they observed San Fransico Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge with the rest of the senior staff. (SGA: "Enemy at the Gate")

When Atlantis returns to the Pegasus galaxy, Banks returns with it. She is mentioned to be running a briefing for the new Control Room technicians on the equipment they are going to run. (SGA: "Legacy: Homecoming")
