Alternate timelines are an alteration or change in the current timeline, causing an alternate reality to form in the universe. An alteration in a timeline is usually caused by altering the past through time travel, which manipulates, shapes, and forms the current present and future. This results in a different outcome, and gives birth to a new alternate reality or universe.

It is possible to restore a timeline to its original state by returning to the past and correcting the damage from there.

Alternate timelines[]

SG1: "Stargate SG-1: Apocalypse"[]

In the original version of the timeline, according to the Goa'uld Hecate, she had SG-1 killed on P5X-104 which proved to be enough to break the alliance between Earth and her allies due to the machinations of Colonel Harold Maybourne and his NID program, resulting in Earth no longer being protected by the Protected Planets Treaty. During this time, Earth was destroyed by the forces of Apophis a small group evacuating to a new planet set up by the NID as an Alpha Site. During the next century, Hecate took Doctor Janet Fraiser as her host and recruited the aid of Colonel David Dixon, and later Teal'c's son Rya'c, as her 'First Prime', presenting herself as an ally against the Wraith who had come to the Milky Way galaxy in a heavily modified Atlantis. Hecate, who had designs on creating an army of Goa'uld-Wraith Hybrids to use as soldiers to conquer the galaxy, realized that she couldn't pilot Atlantis without someone with the ATA gene. As a result, she managed to travel back in time to alter the course of events slightly to bring Colonel Jack O'Neill to the future.

In the year 2000, SG-1 were sent through a Stargate that had been rigged by Hecate to send the wormhole into the elliptical orbit of a black hole, causing them to essentially remain 'in transit' for ninety-eight years. In this timeline, things essentially went the same as the previous one, as Earth's allies abandoned Earth without O'Neill's mission to expose the NID's operation. During a mission in the Atlantis of this future, O'Neill and Major Samantha Carter were able to locate and use a time-travelling gate-ship to go back in time and prevent the circumstances that had sent them into the future. By preventing the Jaffa from wounding Dr. Daniel Jackson and thus slowing SG-1 down, they were able to ensure SG-1 never fell into Hecate's trap. However, this simply created an alternate timeline which O'Neill and Carter realized when they were not erased from existence. In the process, they discovered that Hecate had been responsible for everything that had happened. Returning to the future of their own timeline, O'Neill and Carter led an effort to liberate the Earth from the Goa'uld and the Wraith. During the battle, Hecate was killed by the Goa'uld-Wraith Hybrid Sobek and her plan was averted when all of her hybrids were destroyed. The hostile Wraith Queen Shadow was killed by the more friendly Queen Earthborn who wished to take her people back to Pegasus. Using Atlantis, the surviving Wraith were returned to Pegasus a year after Earth's liberation while Earth began rebuilding. (Stargate SG-1: Apocalypse)

SG1: "2010"[]

Ten years into the future, the Goa'uld have been defeated and the Stargate Program is public. Thanks to the Aschen, Earth is safe and humans are being given an anti-aging vaccine. But not all that glitters is gold. This timeline is negated due to the actions of the team from this reality. The Aschen are encountered in the present timeline, but the note sent back makes the team wary and they learn the truth early on.

Differences[]

SG1: "Stargate SG-1: Relativity"[]

Following the events on Volia, the Aschen started dialing the list of Stargate addresses given to them by Colonel Jack O'Neill in their plan for galactic conquest. The first planet they dialed was being consumed by a black hole and as a result, Mollem and several of the Aschen leaders were killed. In retaliation, the Aschen tasked the scientist Mirris, Mollem's wife, to come up with a bioweapon to destroy the Tau'ri.

Mirris was eventually able to create a smart bioweapon with 98% efficiency and in 2003, made a deal with Ryn of the Pack for him to use the pretext of a treaty with the Tau'ri to infect them with the bioweapon. Ryn was successfully able to pass the bioweapon off to the Tau'ri in the form of a flower from the Pack ship Wanderer which didn't activate until it was exposed to Earth's biosphere. The virus infected the personnel of the SGC, but remained quietly dormant in their bodies, spreading to the SGC personnel's families and everyone they came into contact with. Finally, after a couple of months, the virus went active, causing instant sterility in those afflicted by it of both sexes and terminating all active pregnancies. By the time the virus went active, it was global and affected people worldwide. However, Mirris was sloppy in creating the virus and it mutated and jumped species to infect plants and animals as well, all except a few species of bird that were naturally immune and cockroaches. The effects of the virus caused chaos on Earth with governments collapsing, people turning against each other and eventually those that could escape off-planet fleeing to places such as Chulak and Holdfast. The Earth was eventually turned into a barren wasteland with the only life being the immune bird species and cockroaches with not even trees surviving.

The effects of the virus went interstellar, presumably through infected SGC personnel on missions before the virus went active. Thousands of worlds suffered the same fate as Earth and the rest of the galaxy started to be decimated in a war between the Goa'uld System Lord Anubis and the Replicators. The survivors of the Tau'ri then began waging a guerilla war against the Ashen, led by Commander-in-Chief Jack O'Neill. To fight back, the Tau'ri scavenged weapons and got biological modifications and began using nanites in combat. They also made an ally out of at least one Reetou, Ite-kh who joined their war effort. However, while the Tau'ri were able to win a few victories, the virus, which eventually burnt out, had already done too much damage to the Tau'ri who faced extinction within a generation with all of the other planets affected by the virus facing the same fate by the year 2032.

Eventually, Tau'ri forces discovered a lab belonging to the Ancient Janus containing a series of time travel devices. Seeing the devices as their only hope, the Tau'ri forces began a series of temporal incursions into the past in an attempt to change history and prevent the war from occurring. The Tau'ri forces made ten incursions, some to make a change and others to reverse changes that ended up making things worse usually involving Vice President Robert Kinsey. One such attempt featured the future Tau'ri attempting to strike at Mirris first and Kinsey's intervention causing an interstellar war.

After several failures and with only one trip left available to them, Commander O'Neill decided to take the more extreme solution of bombing the Pack-Tau'ri summit on Kytos with a naquadriah-fusion bomb, accompanied by Ite-kh and his daughter Jade. After being captured by the 2003 version of her father, Jade shared the truth about the future she came from with O'Neill and Dr. Daniel Jackson. Convinced to aid them in stopping the bombing, Jade disarmed the bomb, but both O'Neill's were captured by Mirris while Ryn was exposed after killing Ite-kh and attempting to kill Jade, leading to his death at the hands of Teal'c. Mirris subsequently launched an attack on Kytos using the forces of her Aschen warship, infecting Wanderer with a biogenic weapon. After escaping their cell and joined by Jade and Daniel using the time travel pods teleportation feature, the two O'Neill's set out to destroy the ship and end Mirris' threat with the naquadria-fusion bomb. Mirris' ship was destroyed, ending the attack on the Pack with Mirris being killed by the future O'Neill during the battle.

In the aftermath, the Pack were forced to find a planet to settle on for the first time in a millennia due to the damage they took. The virus was traced to a plant that was gifted to Earth as part of the proceedings and destroyed before it could unleash the virus, something that it was designed to do only when exposed to Earth's unique biosphere, effectively changing the future. Despite this, Commander O'Neill and his daughter decided to return to the future despite the chance that they might be erased from existence as a result and set it up so that the Stargate on the planet with Janus' lab would be permanently disabled, preventing anyone from ever finding Janus' time travel devices. (Stargate SG-1: Relativity)

ATL: "Before I Sleep"[]

The Atlantis expedition arrives in the Lost City to find its power supply failing, and are trapped undersea as the city floods, this is in fact the original timeline.

Differences[]

  • All three Zero Point Modules that powered Atlantis had been running in tandem since the Ancients abandoned the city, and were all but depleted when the expedition team arrived.
  • The city's control systems failed to initialize, presumably for lack of power.
  • Colonel Marshall Sumner drowned along with several security teams searching the city before they could be recalled to the control room.
  • Atlantis' failsafe mechanism took the form of emergency bulkheads that sought to close off vital sections of the city; unfortunately, these had the effect of trapping still more members of the expedition with water still rising with Dr. Meredith Rodney McKay being one of the many personnel to drown while in the Control Room.
  • Major John Sheppard, Dr. Elizabeth Weir and Dr. Radek Zelenka are the only members of the expedition to escape the city, when Sheppard inadvertently activates a time-travel device inside one of the Puddle Jumpers.
    • The Time Jumper takes them into orbit around Lantea during the siege by the Wraith; the Jumper crashes and Sheppard and Zelenka are killed, but Weir is rescued by the Lanteans and lives out her days on Atlantis, simultaneously setting up events so that a 'fail-safe' is installed that will cause Atlantis to rise to the surface rather than be flooded when power drops to a critical level. These events are not part of an alternate timeline, as they are in fact in the past of "our" timeline.

SG1: "Moebius, Parts 1" "2" and "Moebius Squared"[]

Two alternate timelines result from this episode. First, Dr. Daniel Jackson discovers that Ra was in possession of a Zero Point Module during his reign on Earth, and Brigadier General Jack O'Neill takes SG-1 back in time in order to retrieve it. Then, SG-1 is stranded in ancient Egypt, where it leads the rebellion and forces Ra to leave Earth, but inadvertently causes Ra to take the Stargate with him. As a result, the Stargate Program never came into existence which also meant that none of the events that took place over the last years including the defeat of the majority of the Goa'uld System Lords as well as the discovery of Atlantis never happened.

Differences[]

  • Dr. Daniel Jackson teaches English as a second language.
  • Dr. Samantha Carter is not a member of the Air Force, and holds little of the confidence she is very well known to have.
  • Jack O'Neill is retired from the Air Force and lives on the fishing boat S.S. Homer (named after his favorite show The Simpsons).
  • Teal'c is still First Prime of Apophis, but still has his many doubts as to whether or not his master is a god.
  • George S. Hammond is a Brigadier General and still commanding officer of the Cheyenne Mountain facility, which housed the USAF Research Institute.
  • Major Charles Kawalsky is still alive, though he dies before he can escape Chulak with the rest of the team. He is also an officer in the United States Marine Corps rather than the Air Force.
  • Dr. Rodney McKay is still working for the Air Force, and is involved with research on the Time Jumper. He is also apparently not allergic to citrus which has him regarding Lemon chicken as one of his favorite foods.
  • Robert Kinsey is President of the United States whereas Henry Hayes is Secretary of the Interior.
  • After O'Neill, Carter and Teal'c travel back once more to ancient Egypt, they manage to orchestrate the rebellion in such a way that the Stargate remains on Earth. This changes the "real" reality that exists from these episodes, onward. The timeline after SG-1 went back in time to retrieve the ZPM had these differences from the one that existed prior to these episodes:
    • The rebellion in ancient Egypt happened somewhat earlier; though it's unclear what difference, if any, this made.
    • The "original" fate of Ra's ZPM was unknown, but it's assumed that he took it with him when he left Earth. In the new timeline, it was buried with the camcorder, preventing any need to go back in time in the first place.
    • Because of the ZPM, Earth was able to send reinforcements to Atlantis. In the original timeline the expedition team presumably would have followed through with its original plan to abandon and destroy the city.
    • There were fish in Brigadier General Jack O'Neill's pond. At the beginning of the episodes, and in the videotape, O'Neill admits that there are no fish in his pond, and in all episodes prior to these, when shown fishing, no one has any success.
    • The fishing scene in "Threads" didn't happen until the end of "Moebius".
Note: The storyline of the alternate timeline versions of SG-1 was continued in the novel Stargate SG-1: Moebius Squared, taking place after Stargate: Continuum. However, the novel moves the time of the rebellion from 2995 BC to 2495 BC with the book taking place in 2492 BC with no explanation for the time discrepancy.

Three years following the successful rebellion, Hor-Aha is Pharaoh of Egypt while O'Neill and Carter have a daughter named Ellie. However, Teal'c's symbiote is reaching maturity and if he doesn't receive a new one, he will die. Desperate to save Teal'c the team is able to discover from some records left behind that there will be a prim'ta ceremony for Ra's Jaffa shortly on Abydos and work to find a way to reopen the Stargate safely so they can steal a larval Goa'uld for Teal'c. To buy time for this to work, Teal'c contacts his symbiote through kelno'reem and learns that she is Egeria who will become the first Tok'ra.

SG-1 succeeds in their mission to steal Teal'c a new symbiote, but Teal'c's lover Aset is mortally wounded and is forced to become Egeria's host to survive. Further complicating matters is the arrival of SG-1 from the future using Ba'al's time machine in search of three rogue Tok'ra who have stolen the Time Jumper, kidnapped Dr. Carolyn Lam and come in search of Egeria. Furthermore, the alternate SG-1 were forced to dial straight back to Earth after catching the attention of Ra's Jaffa and Ra returns to the planet in a Ha'tak to reclaim it.

Banding together, the two SG-1's manage to rescue Carolyn and one of the Tok'ra and steal the Time Jumper back. Joined by a descendant of the Ancients who arrives with a battered Puddle Jumper, the team works to force Ra off of Earth by tricking him into thinking that the Ancients are attacking him using the two Time Jumpers and the Ancient's battered Jumper. Though Ra eventually sees through the trick, he is wounded by Egeria who takes command and orders a retreat to Abydos. The alternate Teal'c departs with Egeria to found the Tok'ra while, with the future saved, the current timeline SG-1 and Doctor Lam use the Time Jumper to return to their own time. Though the alternate SG-1 is offered the chance to join them, they choose to remain in Ancient Egypt in the lives they have built there. (SG1: "Moebius Squared")

SG1: "Stargate SG-1: Roswell"[]

Due to disruption to the wormhole due to energy being fired into it by the staffs of a few Priors, SG-1 is sent back in time to 1947 and trapped in a cavern under Cheyenne Mountain created by the unstable vortex. At the same time, the energy discharge damages the Earth Stargate. A future version of Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Carter and a man going by Herbert George arrive using the same device Cassandra Fraiser used to send SG-1 home after they accidentally got sent to the future. Carter, now a General, reveals what has happened to Vala Mal Doran and General Jack O'Neill who is temporarily in command of the SGC while General Hank Landry has surgery. General Carter helps to upgrade the Time Jumper with an Asgard transporter in order to effect a rescue and warns that they must rescue the Asgard scientist An from that time as well.

The arrival of the Time Jumper in 1947 damages An's ship and knocks O'Neill unconscious. Vala is able to beam the team and what she believes to be An onboard while also healing O'Neill's head wound with a Goa'uld healing device hidden on the ship by General Carter. A groggy O'Neill attempts to return them to the future, but accidentally sends them back to 1908 where the Time Jumper collides with a Goa'uld Ha'tak ship, causing significant damage to the Time Jumper and sending the Ha'tak crashing to Earth where it explodes, creating the Tunguska Impact. As well, the rescue Asgard proves not to be An but rather the rogue scientist Loki who was performing illegal experiments on humans. An effort to get parts to repair the Time Jumper with the help of H.P. Lovecraft results in a barn fire and Vala and a wounded Cameron Mitchell being left behind. Loki convinces the team that he can repair the transporter if they return him to 1947, but subsequently beams off the ship, having sabotaged both the time device and transporter.

In the meantime, Mitchell and Vala are left stuck in 1908 with no way home and start posing as a married couple, moving in with Lovecraft's family. After learning that someone died in the fire that shouldn't have, their worries about changing the future for the worse spur them to search for the device that General Carter and Cassandra had used to return to 1908 and set things right, becoming rich in the process using Mitchell's knowledge of future events to make good investments. They ultimately manage to find one half of the device amongst Lovecraft's things and the other half in King Tut's tomb and dig up the Stargate with orders to rebury it. Their orders are ignored and the Stargate is later displayed in the Metropolitan Museum in New York while their influence changes Lovecraft from a writer to a scientist. The initial plan is to go to a planet Vala knows of to get a Needle Threader Death Glider to return to 1908 through the Beta Gate, but the planet proves to be under the control of Qetesh who captures them. All of their actions result in an alternate timeline with Mitchell later theorizing that the man who died wasn't the important event but rather what they did to try to fix things.

When SG-1 arrives in 1947 with Loki, it is the 1947 of the alternate timeline where Earth isn't drastically changed from the 1947 they knew aside from the presence of the Stargate in the museum. As SG-1 gets caught up in the events surrounding the Roswell crash, in reality An's escape pod crashing due to a chase with Lok's clones, the Goa'uld launch an invasion of Earth. The invasion proves to be lead by Mitchell, now the First Prime of Qetesh who has taken Vala as her host. While Qetesh's invasion is supposedly for Ra, her real intention is to use Earth's nuclear bombs to launch a Coup D'etat and take power for herself, using Vala and Mitchell's knowledge of Earth. Mitchell proves to still be the same person he once was and has been planning for years to overthrow Qetesh.

Though Mitchell promises to help get the hand device for the team, they choose to aid the Earth of the alternate timeline in stopping the invasion. With the help of An, the team is able to steal two Little Boy-type atomic bombs and rig them. By beaming them aboard Ra and Qetesh's ships, they are able to destroy the ships and kill Ra and Qestesh, Vala along with them. Mitchell escapes through a ring transporter to New York where he takes command of the surviving Goa'uld forces and orders them to retreat. Mitchell is able to provide the team with the hand device to use the Stargate to return to 1908 and set things right, but chooses to remain in the alternate 1947 since he belongs in the alternate timeline. An remains with Mitchell and suggests that the alternate timeline will continue to exist as a separate reality from the one the team knows rather than being erased completely. An intends to be rescued when the Asgard check out what happened to him and joins Mitchell in going to the world leaders in the aftermath of the invasion.

Upon returning to 1908, SG-1 beams An, Vala, Mitchell and the man who died in the fire aboard. Vala is able to heal the man with the Goa'uld healing device, restoring history to its proper path. Upon their return to their own time, General Carter and Herbert George depart with An. As he leaves, Herbert reveals his real name to be Herbert George Wells, causing Dr. Daniel Jackson to realize that he was in fact the famous science fiction author H.G. Wells the entire time.

SG1: "Unending"[]

SG-1 is trapped aboard the Odyssey for 50–60 years in a Time dilation field, as the team seeks a means to prevent the ship's destruction by an Ori energy beam weapon. During this period, Dr. Daniel Jackson and Vala Mal Doran became romantically involved, Major General Henry Landry cultivated a garden in his quarters, and Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter learned to play the Cello. Landry died of old age after about twenty years; all of SG-1 except Teal'c are killed when the Ori beam finally struck the ship. Teal'c used the energy to travel back in time and prevent the time dilation field from ever being established.

From Teal'c's perspective, all these events remain part of his past; but as far as everyone else in the universe is concerned, they belong to a timeline that has not and will not occur. For his part, Teal'c has declined to discuss any of these events with the rest of the team.

ATL: "The Last Man"[]

Lt. Colonel John Sheppard travels 48,000 years into the future to find a timeline where Michael Kenmore took over the galaxy and all of his friends but Dr. Rodney McKay and Dr. Jennifer Keller were killed in the war. This timeline was changed when Sheppard traveled back in time, rescued Teyla Emmagan and destroyed Michael's cruiser and army over M2S-445 and was prevented forever when Michael was later killed by Teyla.

Differences[]

  • Sheppard arrives in the future Atlantis and meets a holographic version of Dr. Rodney McKay, before he returns to the present, creating the second (current) timeline.
  • Michael Kenmore is presumably still alive and has gained control of presumably both the Milky Way and Pegasus Galaxies.
  • Teyla Emmagan was killed by Michael after her baby was born and he was taken and used to perfect Michael's Hybrids with Michael using the strong and eliminating those he deemed weak.
  • Ronon Dex and Todd both died fighting against Michael's Hybrids together.
  • The next 304 is named the Phoenix (in the new timeline its renamed the George Hammond in honor of Lt. General George S. Hammond who died of a heart attack.)
  • The Phoenix is destroyed in the Battle of the Phoenix and Colonel Samantha Carter is killed in the destruction.
  • An unknown amount of humans die as a result of the Hoffan drug.
  • Michael destroys the Wraith, exterminates the weak of the galaxy's human populations and turns the strong into more of his Hybrids.
  • After Carter's death, Richard Woolsey orders all support pulled out of helping other worlds and focus on protecting Atlantis leaving at least one ship in orbit at all times. This causes Dr. Jennifer Keller and McKay to quit.
  • Keller and McKay return to Earth on the Daedalus and start a relationship. McKay gets a job with an aerospace firm and Keller starts her own medical practice until a year later she falls fatally ill from complications due to repeated exposure to the Hoffan drug and she dies.
  • McKay spends the next 25 years trying to come up with a way to change the past and succeeds ultimately.
  • Evan Lorne is now a Major General and commander of Stargate Command. The Atlantis expedition is still going on and McKay convinces Lorne to help him get back there and set his plan in motion.
  • McKay implements his plan and then dies at an unknown point in time of presumably natural causes.
  • At some point at least 25 years after McKay left the first time, Atlantis is permanently abandoned for unknown reasons.

Stargate: Continuum[]

Ba'al travels back to 1939 and sends Achilles, the ship carrying the Stargate to America, to the North Pole and heads out into the galaxy to create his own empire. In the new timeline, Cameron Mitchell doesn't exist—his grandfather was on the ship carrying the Stargate and was killed before he could have children. Samantha Carter is dead, Charlie O'Neill is still alive, and the Stargates were never found. Carter, Mitchell and Dr. Daniel Jackson end up here for unknown reasons. (Carter postulates that this protection was due to being in transit in the Stargate at the time of the changes, although the changes in fact began before their transit. The true cause of this was not revealed.) Daniel loses his leg to frostbite and although the US Government believes the team, they are denied the chance to restore the timeline and instead are forced to lead normal lives for a year.

The gate in Antarctica is found by the Americans, who are unable to operate it. Meanwhile, the Russians find and take the Gate from the North Pole where the Achilles sank.

Ba'al launches an attack with Teal'c as his First Prime and Vala Mal Doran (as Qetesh) as his queen. He now commands all of the System Lords and with their combined forces, comes after an Earth he believes to be unaware of the Goa'uld as he doesn't know SG-1 is there. He attempts to present an air of benevolence to President Henry Hayes by calling him on a satellite phone and setting up a time to meet face to face, but is killed by Qetesh before he can finish. The Gate in Antarctica and the Antarctic outpost are destroyed by aerial bombardment.

Qetesh plans to use the Solar observation outpost to gain power herself but is thwarted by Daniel, Teal'c, Carter, Mitchell and two other Jaffa who get to Praxyon through the Russian Gate and then use the time travel device to set things right. As Teal'c dies, he kills Qetesh with a grenade. The timeline is erased when Mitchell, in 1939, sets an ambush and kills Ba'al and his soldiers before they can change time.

SGU: Time[]

  • In the original timeline a team travels to a Jungle planet and a few members of the team fall ill with an unknown fatal illness. They are unable to dial back to the Destiny due to a very unstable wormhole forming and are trapped on the planet for 36 hours. During that time, a bunch of nocturnal creatures attack and kill Chloe Armstrong, Dr. Adam Brody, Lt. Vanessa James, Cpl. Marsden, Sgt. Spencer and badly wound Lt. Matthew Scott by biting him which sends him into a coma. Another member of the team, Dr. Dale Volker dies of his illness that night while Eli Wallace records everything with a Kino. In the morning the survivors:Eli, Lt. Tamara Johansen, Dr. Nicholas Rush, Jeremy Franklin and Scott who's still in a coma hide in a cave after still being unable to dial Destiny and MSgt. Ronald Greer kills some of the sleeping creatures with Eli by placing C-4 in their nests and "fire in the hole". Meanwhile, Franklin dies of the illness. That night, the creatures attack again and everyone but Eli, the still comatose Scott and Rush are killed. Rush dials Destiny and heads through the still unstable wormhole in a desperate attempt to get help while Eli returns to the cave and is killed by the creatures. The next morning Scott regains consciousness and finds himself in pain from the wound but mysteriously cured of his illness. With little time left before Destiny leaves, he dials the ship and sends the Kino through the still unstable wormhole, planning to follow. Due to a solar flare that has been disrupting the wormhole, the Kino travels back in time and lands near Rush's dead body, creating the next timeline. Presumably everyone on Destiny dies.
  • Like in the original timeline, the team arrives, but this time finds the Kino from the original timeline and Rush's skeletal remains. The team returns to Destiny immediately and reviews the Kino's recordings. After learning of the illness, the team who went to the planet and everyone who came into contact with them quarantine themselves, but several people fall ill and T.J. learns that the illness is not from the planet, but from a contaminated water supply and their antibiotics won't work. After observing how the original Scott was cured, the crew determines that the creature's venom kills the contagion and realize that a solar flare caused the time travel. With an hour before the flare hits, Colonel Everett Young, Scott, Greer and Spencer travel to the planet to retrieve a live specimen. On the ship, four people: Volker, Franklin, James and Chloe die of the illness. Meanwhile, Greer is unfortunately attacked and killed by the creatures. Young and Scott start firing on the creatures as Spencer attempts to save Greer by taking the creature off. However, the creature kills him as well. Young and Scott still fight, however Young is also killed. Scott is very unhappy to find out that he's the only survivor of the attack. He records a message on a Kino, detailing the illness and what needs to be done before sending it back in time via the wormhole and solar flare. Again everyone on the Destiny likely dies of the illness and Scott is probably killed by the creatures.
  • In the current timeline, the team finds 2 Kinos with their databanks full and acquire the venom in the daylight.

SGU: Twin Destinies/Common Descent/Epilogue[]

  • In the first timeline, as a result of heavy damage sustained during the Drone attack on Destiny, Eli Wallace proposes trying to dial Earth from inside a star, believing he figured out how to do so with Ginn's help. Due to a solar flare interacting with the wormhole, Destiny and her crew are thrown twelve hours into the past when they dial Earth. Colonel David Telford makes it back to Earth, but the wormhole destabilizes due to the solar flare after that and everyone who follows ends up 2,000 years in the past on a planet which they eventually abandon as its uninhabitable and form the colony of Novus while Doctor Nicholas Rush is forced to remain behind on Destiny to ensure the crew is able to make it through the wormhole. After connecting with Telford who was on Earth, Rush abandons Destiny in the shuttle and encounters the Destiny from the next timeline after it drops out of FTL.
Note: The Telford from the first timeline goes on to replace his main timeline self following his death on the alternate Destiny.
  • The second timeline is changed by the development of the Novus culture. The first time the Destiny crew becomes aware of the altered time stream is where Dr. Nicholas Rush and, Colonel Everett Young are asking for volunteers to remain on Destiny. They are called to the bridge where a message from Rush from the first timeline is making contact. He is allowed to land and tells his story, believing that the combination of a solar flare and dialing Earth must have thrown his Destiny back in time 12 hours. As a result of Future Rush's story, Young calls off dialing Earth and they locate the "first" Destiny, finding it mostly intact with all the damage seeming to be in the engineering spaces. Desperately needing parts and supplies and seeing a chance, the crew makes a short FTL jump and dials into the "first" Destiny and raids it for parts and supplies, discovering they have forty minutes until its shields collapse and it falls into the star. Camile Wray connects to Earth to find out that the first Telford is already there, verifying part of the first Rush's story. While trying to get relays for the weapons system, first Rush is confronted by Colonel David Telford and in a moment of anger, shoves Telford into a damaged relay, electrocuting him to death. Having nothing left to lose, Future Rush heads to the Destiny interface chair (possibly to download the knowledge of the Ancients before he dies) and convinces present Rush to help him. Rush and Lt. Matthew Scott, the last two on the second Destiny, escape at the last second before the ship falls into the star and disintegrates. Thanks to the parts gotten from the "first" Destiny, the crew can now repair the damage to the ship and continue the mission. In the new timeline, the Telford from the first Destiny is still alive and acts as his replacement. Later, the crew of the Destiny encounter the descendants of the first Destiny on a Novus colony and learn about the fate of their counterparts.

Notes[]

With the exception of the events in "Moebius, Part 1", "Moebius, Part 2", and "Stargate: Continuum", all these "alternate timelines" are in fact timelines lacking the intervention of a given individual or individuals:

All originating from futures that their interventions have negated. (Since "Moebius" actually depicts two altered timelines, one of which is the "final" one, it could fall in this category as well). In effect, then, it might be said that the primary timeline is the "alternate" timeline, as it is the result of repeated historical interventions.
