An aerobraking maneuver is a spaceflight maneuver which uses a planet's atmosphere to slow down the speed of an object. An aerobraking maneuver was used by the Destiny in 2009 around a gas giant ("Big Bertha") to slow down and enter a star system. The opposite of an aerobraking maneuver is a slingshot maneuver. (SGU: "Darkness", "Light")
