Adam Brody is a male Tau'ri engineer who participated in the Stargate program, and was stationed at Icarus Base.

Biography

2009

He and roughly 80 people were forced to evacuate Icarus Base during an attack against the base by three Ha'tak vessels. He ended up on the Destiny, an Ancient spaceship located several billion light years from Earth. One of his first duties on the ship was to help Nicholas Rush repair the failing life support system, working alongside Lisa Park. After Rush "told" the ship of the issues, and the ship Gated to a desert planet, Rush requested Brody be on the off world team, but that was overruled by Colonel Young, who wanted Brody to help fix the problem in the ship. Brody admitted during a Kino message that from the moment he stepped through a Stargate, he had the terrible feeling that he would die in space. He can translate Ancient, though with some difficulty. While Dr. Rush was incapacitated or otherwise preoccupied with more pressing matters, Brody translated all of the controls of the Ancient shuttle. (SGU: "Darkness") When it was believed Destiny would be destroyed by colliding with a star, Brody was one of the seventeen who were selected to board the Ancient shuttle to the Goldilocks zone planet. He later confirmed spectrographic readings of the planet, citing a lack of carbon dioxide meant there would be a lack of vegetation. Realizing the ship had survived its encounter with the star, the shuttle returned. (SGU: "Light")

Several weeks later, when the IOA presented a plan to get the expedition home, he was optimistic about the plan, and even offered the idea to speed up the process to enact the plan. Following orders, he and Sergeant Riley were working in a section of the ship exposed to the vacuum of space. When their repairs to a power line failed, Riley reentered the closed-off section and attempted to fix the problem and was hit by an explosion. Brody took Riley to Tamara Johansen and waited outside the infirmary for news. These events convinced Brody to side with Rush to create false readings that showed that they would be unable to shut down power once Telford's plan was enacted and the Stargate was dialed while Destiny passed through a star. He later informed Doctor Rush of Telford's departure so that the ruse could be stopped. (SGU: "Earth")

A few days later he followed with off-world team to a Jungle planet in search of food. When some of the group had picked some fruit so he came and told that Dale Volker had vomited, after which Chloe and Scott became ill as well. The group was denied a return to Destiny as some of those onboard were sick as well, and Lt. Johansen wanted to avoid cross-contamination.

During a night attack by the squigglers, Brody was one of the first to fall. In our timeline, he was ill, but cured, after drinking toxic water from Hoth. (SGU: "Time")

Over the next few weeks, he continued to help repair and run the ship. Upon the discovery of the Destiny interface chair, he debated the moral issue of using it at unknown risk. When Spencer was discovered dead, he was amongst those with an alibi and helped to search for the missing weapon. He was a part of the team that tried crack the chair's interface. Following the incident with Franklin, he was on duty in the gateroom and over saw operations in place of Riley. (SGU: "Life", "Justice")

In the days after Rush was abandoned, he was amongst a small group that believed things needed to change. He, Volker and Wray met to discuss their options. When a battle ensued, he helped oversee operations of the weapons with Eli. Upon Rush's return, he was visibly happy to have him back. (SGU: "Space")

A week later, he helped deploy a Kino to search for the tracking device. Later, Brody was in the Hydroponics lab when Volker let him know the mutiny was on. Throughout the ordeal, he was visibly torn over the matter. (SGU: "Divided") Sometime later, Brody and Park were charged with repairing the shuttle. While they were capable of making extensive repairs, he believed it would never break from the gravity well of the planet. He later assisted Rush in his quest with the Repository to find the access code, and was one of only two people assisting him. He watched over the data flow and believed that prematurely pulling him out would have been dangerous.(SGU: "Human") A day later he was in control interface room with Rush and Riley, trying to find a way to rescue the team was left at ruins planet. He asked Rush if Destiny could be asked to turn around, but Rush said he had already tried, with no result. (SGU: "Lost")

He was in the control interface room with Volker, Rush, Young and Wray when Rush said that Destiny will not be able to make it across the void between galaxies. He suggests that they could increase Destiny's FTL efficiency, which led to Amanda Perry being brought on board. After the FTL drive was sabotaged and automated repairs began, he spent the next few weeks constructing a bar for the crew. (SGU: "Sabotage")

During the Lucian Alliance invasion of Destiny, he went with Rush to hide on the ship and take control from the Lucian Alliance. When Rush, Eli, Chloe, and him fled to the Hydroponics lab, he sealed the doors and obeyed Rush when told to seal the door even though four civilians, Greer, Scott, and TJ were still outside. (SGU: "Intervention")

Sometime later when 'Destiny' happened upon the Seed ship, Brody was a member of the team that went aboard the ship. He brought the systems online and helped attempt the power transfer. Overtime he also begins to suspect that the ship's infrequent stops are more than they appear, suspecting that Rush has a hand in it. It is during this time Brody also begins to supply (SGU: "Awakening", "Pathogen")

When the ship was stopped near the Ursini spaceship Brody further voiced his concerns to Young. After Col. Young and Rush are trapped on the ship, he helps Dr. Amanda Perry get up to speed. Brody is part of the group that discovers the bridge. After recovering the two, he quickly takes up working from the bridge. During Simeon's escape and the hunt for him, he man's a console overriding lockouts and attempting to stall the ship's clock. (SGU: "The Greater Good", "Malice")

After the previously lost shuttle shows up, he is cautious to believe it is really Robert Caine and those left behind. Brody confirmed the shuttle was in perfect order, even smelling new. (SGU: "Visitation")

Brody is the one that notices the energy signature of the damaged Ursini spaceships in the graveyard. He joins the team that investigates one of the ships. After the Drone attack on Destiny he helps with repairs and voices concerns bout the Ursini plan to perform a coupled jump. During the attack on the Control Ship he mans systems on the bridge. Following the ship's destruction, he and Volker work to repair the ship so it can jump to FTL. He briefly helps the the analysis of an inert Berzerker drone. The two effect repairs in time for the ship to jump away. (SGU: "Resurgence", "Deliverance")

After the attack, Brody is a strong voice for the severity of damage to the ship. When Dr. Bill Lee is going over Eli's plan to dial in a star, he admits he has a great respect for Eli. Following their passage through the star and seeing the second Destiny he agrees that it's worth getting the parts from the ship and is a member of the team that goes. (SGU: "Twin Destinies")

During a visit to the ship my Dr. Andrew Covel and Sen. Michaels, he raises concerns over possible damage to the FTL drive as part of plan to give Greer and Wray information on how to disarm the bomb. About a week later, he and Park assisted TJ in her preparations for a Kidney transplant for Dale Volker. (SGU: "Alliances", "Hope")

When Dr. Rodney McKay comes aboard to explain his plan, he switches bodies and confirms his plan is sound. He later discovers Rush has uploaded his consciousness into the ship. Brody works with Eli to quarantine the programs that contain Amanda Perry and Ginn in order to save Rush. Sometime later on, he and Eli are working on a stasis pod in Destiny's Stasis hall when he is trapped. He is later freed, suffering no ill effects. (SGU: "Seizure", "The Hunt")

Brody again proves to be a voice of reason, arguing that they need lime for the CO2 scrubbers. When they discover Colony of Novus, he finds that he was a founding father of a nation on Novus by the name of Futura. Upon their arrival at Novus he uses Destiny's main weapon to breach the fallout shelters doors. Brody joins a team to the bunker and helps investigate the database and it's transfer. (SGU: "Common Descent", "Epilogue")

Over a week later, Brody was attempting to make more paper. When the ship was performing an Aerobraking maneuver in conjunction to recharge, he questioned the reason for it as reserves were adequate. When the garden will be immolated, he increases cooling to the Hydroponics lab to preserve some of the garden. On an abandoned colony of Novus, he helps gather supplies and is part of a team pinned down by Drones. The team was able to make it safely back to the Destiny.(SGU: "Blockade")

Alternate timelines

• Brody was a part of the initial team that went through to the jungle planet. During the night he was attacked and killed by one of the creatures. (SGU: "Time")

• In an alternate timeline, he chose to return to Earth with everyone else but like everyone else except for Colonel David Telford, didn't make it to Earth and was presumed dead. However, he ended on a planet that he and other survivors called Novus, 2,000 years in the past. He became hostile and bitter, eventually founding the nation of Futura. (SGU: "Twin Destinies", "Common Descent", "Epilogue")
