Abu is a Shavadai and son of the Chieftain Moughal from the planet Simarka.
Biography[]
1997[]
He appeared to be somewhat of the local healer as he was very focused on medicines as a strength for the tribe and was seen applying an anesthetic salve to a wounded tribesman. He was the first person on the planet to meet SG-1 when they came through the gate and was saved by them from a pack of feral dogs. When his fellow tribesmen caught up to SG-1 and Abu they were going to kill Captain Samantha Carter but Abu convinced them not to by telling them she saved his life. A little later however, when he saw her dressed as a Shavadai, he discarded his gratitude and decided to sell her to a rival tribal chief—Turghan—to get Turghan's daughter Nya for himself. Turghan didn't go along with his logic though and offered 300 weights of gold instead, refusing to allow Abu marry Nya. Abu later approached Nya, telling her of where they should meet so they can run away and be together. Carter created a diversion for Nya to escape and be with Abu, but Nya was quickly captured with Abu barely able to escape himself. Abu informs his father and SG-1 about what had happened, and that Nya will be stoned to death for her transgressions. Hatching a plan to release Nya, they go to Turghan's camp and Carter challenges Turghan to one on one combat. Carter manages to defeat Turghan and spares his life, securing Nya's release and allowing Abu to marry her. Alongside his father, Nya, and the rest of the Shavadai present, Abu warmly gives his farewells to SG-1 for what they had done. (SG1: "Emancipation")
After his father's death later that year, Abu returned Shavadai society to its previous customs, including the treatment of women like property. This disregard of the lessons taught to him by SG-1 earned Abu the continued ire of Jack O'Neill, who referred to Abu as a "conniving little weasel." (SG1: "Do No Harm")
