Sorry to do this but tomoro i am going down to the law school here at uni and talking to the clerks there about a law suit against wikia and im particularly this wikia. I am sick of being insulted and when i defend myself i get in trouble, this wikia is racist and insulting and i plan to force wikia to shut it down. You know you're a Stargate fan when...

Here's one may put down on the list; when someone says "starga.." in "stargazing", you assume "Stargate". That's what I thought when I saw Doctor Who's "Tooth and Claw" last night, which had "stargazing" mentioned a few times. -- Matthew R Dunn (talk) (Contribs) 17:19, February 11, 2010 (UTC)

Heh... I guess that's happened a few times too. :) Reminds me... I should start watching Dr. Who again. I still have one David Tennant episode to go. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 01:16, February 12, 2010 (UTC)

Canon's Ring

Jaymach Keeps on saying that the Goa'uld healing ring used by Vala in the episode Prometheus Unbound has the same ablitys as the ring used by Canon in the episode Demons, despite having been shown to do different things. He keeps changing any edits to the Canon's ring & Goa'uld healing device article's as well as deleting the healing ring page, saying that it's like the Kara kesh and can do multiple things dispite no evidence of this unlike the Kara kesh. Can you help? Awar 14:35, February 13, 2010 (UTC)

  • please read his talk page for a better idea of the problem between us. Awar 14:45, February 13, 2010 (UTC)
I'm not trying to pick sides (kind of), but I will say that (as the technologies are both of Goa'uld origin) it is plausible that they are the same device. Maybe Val's ring was a newer model or maybe it was modified. There could be more than one function to it and it might be easily programmable.
On a related note... it seems much more implausible that (with the Serrakin pistol) a completely different race of aliens in a completely different galaxy in a completely different reality could come into possession of the exact same weapon. It seems like one would have to "assume" to a much greater degree that they're the same weapons than not. My point is (well, one of them anyway :), that the canon's ring issue is far more plausible than this (in my opinion), and it wouldn't be that far of a stretch to label them as the same device given the similarities of origin they share. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 18:36, February 13, 2010 (UTC)

I agree that they might do both jobs, but my point is that it is never shown or mentioned to do so unlike the Kara kesh.

  • Also about the Serrakin pistol, Wraith spear gun & even the Canon's ring are just prop reuse's to reduce the cost of the show. The effect of the Bedrosian rifle was later used for the Wraith weapons & even the Ori stun weapon, just recoloured
    • On a side note what is the chances of every civilation in history inventing the Bow & Arrow a complex weapon?

so i was wondering about this and i decided to ask you because youre an admin, how exactly do you change your signature? thanks —Asdf1239 (talk) (Contribs) 12:29, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

The easiest thing probably would be to follow the discussion about that here. Just follow User:Ka'lel's example and, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask me. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 01:32, February 19, 2010 (UTC)
By the way: {{User:Ka'lel/sig}} means the same thing as Template:User:Ka'lel/sig... just in case that confused you at some point.

304 Name

Why don't you come up with some names of more 304's like the Agrian or something like that. Unsigned comment by Borokan (talk • contribs).

hi is there a category or list of premade userbox templates here? thanks —ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 02:13, March 1, 2010 (UTC)

No... mainly because there are very few userboxes in use here on userpages... and because there aren't templates as people just place the actual userbox text on their userpage. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 05:41, March 1, 2010 (UTC)

useless pages

ive noticed there are a bunch of useless pages on here

is this really nessecary or are people just trying to get a higher number on their profiles.

Well, I created that page and frankly could care less about my edit number. As an encyclopedia for everything Stargate, naturally we include all sorts of articles here, including ones that may lack a large amount of content. Frootees are unique to the show and the Stargate universe and are, therefore, documented on this site. I would hardly say that articles such as the Frootees one are useless... they're just stubs... and are just as important as other articles here. While we do discourage articles that have little value, usefulness isn't necessarily based on size. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 04:52, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
Generally, if I can find a quote, image, and brief description, and or external link, that's usually enough to constitute an article... albeit a small one.

still, an article which is one or two lines is USELESS, you could jsut as easily refernece it in another article where it comes up (eg. that Frootees one could be mentioned in the Continuum page under references or notes. Unsigned comment by Escyos (talk • contribs).

if we went by that policy we wouldn't have articles on Robert Grosseteste, MP3 player, or PlayStation, they bear significance to the story (no matter how much) and are therefore notable ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 05:44, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

...and that is why the wiki is circling the drain and is mocked pretty much everywhere....

Oh come on.... it's not nearly that bad. You go to any other and you'd find that they have terrible standards: lacking in proper category chains, having grammar errors left and right, having a complete disregard for in-universe perspective and neutral point of view. I mean, your criticizing us for having essentially too many articles. Is it really that bad of a "problem"? We only have a goal to keep people informed in the best way possible. While I would prefer to have only long and detailed articles, smaller, "stub" articles still accomplish the same goal. It's not like having small articles brings into question our credibility or causes anyone pain in any sort of way... —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 07:59, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

no what im criticising is that you have pointless articles for something seen ONCE. and then reason the wiki is mocked is because you include books etc as canon, despite the fact that most people dont take them as canon. (and yea i know MGM or someone said they are canon, but no one really cares).

essentially all those articles do is take people to a page where they find information they would be able to find out in two words. and when i come on here and see that one person has added 5 new artilces on stupid little facts that they coudl write in 10 seconds. it really looks like they just want people to think they are big shots with large edit numbers.

argue all you want, they are pointless articles

Also, lets not forget to take note of the uselessness of this. So, we have about 15 or so "useless" articles out of over 5,000. Personally, it feels as though something as minor as that really isn't a massive problem that would make the entire fan-base of the show look at this site with utter disgust. And yea, we count books as cannon... but that's because they are declared as such. I respect your decision, and naturally, as a remedy to the situation, you can simply choose not to look at those articles if you find them distasteful. I don't mean to be rude, but naturally... there is likely not 1 thing in existence that everyone likes with unyielding love. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 08:15, March 28, 2010 (UTC)
if arugula isn't worthy of an article because it was mentioned only, shouldn't we delete a bunch of other ones as well such as Blades of Glory, Scotland, Winston Churchill, volkswagen?! theres plenty others in fact theres whole categories of mentioned-only it would sound awkward to explain what an arugula is on the pages that mention it. ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 01:21, April 18, 2010 (UTC)
Ugh... I hate establishing precedents ;) . Well, some articles like Scotland were mentioned in more than one episode... which works toward their overall relevance. Articles like arugula were only mentioned briefly once and were never actually shown on the show (not that Scotland was shown per say). It would be crazy to try to get rid of all these so-called "useless" articles. The main reason I deleted Arugula was because it was only mentioned in comparison to another plant... and so info about arugula was therefore much better suited for that specific alien plant... in order to better describe it. Articles like Scotland and Blades of Glory more stand on their own... —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 01:33, April 18, 2010 (UTC)
well, articles like the one on volkswagen are around the same notability level as arugula and thus should be deleted also going by that policy and linked to wikipedia. ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 01:35, April 18, 2010 (UTC)
I agree. It seems like that was probably created for humor... Volkswagens being where clowns are spilling out of... HA! If you want, you can compile a list of articles you think are worthless and I'll look over them. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 01:38, April 18, 2010 (UTC)
Something else though. If a specific topic was mentioned in a scene that was dedicated to that topic (such as how Jeopardy! was)... we should keep that article. Or, if said topic was mentioned several times throughout an episode or series. Only articles about things that are merely mentioned and in almost no way affect the flow of the show should be deleted... mainly. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 01:43, April 18, 2010 (UTC)

Stargate Universe Deleted Scenes

Are we going to include the deleted scenes from the extended version of the pilot episodes? and Stargate TL1 (talk) (Contribs) 18:19, April 21, 2010 (UTC)

We already have incorporated them into the articles. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 00:52, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

it took me a while to figure out the editing interface, How do you make the lines apear closer together, i dont know what i did.

when i hit enter for the next line there is always a gap in between

Press "Enter" less then... try to only leave 1 gap between lines. The more you press enter, the more lines that are created. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 04:10, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

Destiny's size

Hi... I have this BIG Comparison chart picture that has the sizes of most of the ships from known scifi shows and it had the aurora and the destiny on it...

here is the link [1] i was just wanted to ask if i can put that size on this wikia...

i am going to put it, but just erase it and tell me if you think its not suppose to be there or something—Tau'ri 21300 (talk) (Contribs) 11:33, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

we can't use unofficial fan measurements. also that site says that a hive isn't as long as an aurora which is kind of ridiculous ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 12:13, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

Image Policy

Im a new user here and I'd like to contribute at best but there are some issues I'd like to "hear" directly from admins than read in TOU.

I'd like to be briefed about the Image Policy...that means, there are some actor and characters wich do not have a picture of them and problably they exist and I'd like to be able to put them there without desrepectig privacy or any rights. Do I have to ask anyone or it's safe to upload the images?

I've read some links about SGCommand: Copyrights and the Image Copyright but I'd like to hear how you admin do.

Other question: There's any other way wich I can contact you directly for questions instead of the talk service?

Cheers. Sorry to bother ;D -Lateral (talk) (Contribs) 21:45, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

Is there any template or how to sign comment in summary as "reverting vandalism" Vilnisr (talk) (Contribs) 13:45, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

and is there a "Violation list" on Stargate wiki like on wowwiki [[2]] Vilnisr T | C - 16:11, May 9, 2010 (UTC)
You can just type "reverting vandalism" in the summary section... and there isn't a "violation list". If there is a problem user, just tell an administrator about it. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 17:53, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

If I had the patience to try to hear the faded English audio over the main dub track I'd do the rest. As it is I can only gleam a rough summary from the bits of dialogue that come through. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 01:53, May 11, 2010 (UTC)
you wrote all that from listening to leftover audio on a dubbed version thats impressive ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 04:10, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

You beat me to it. Yeah, it wasn't me who wrote the "Pain" summary. Mine would have missed a few details, though the gist of it was pretty clear. Not so much for 18-20. I can tell there's a lot of little things in the dialogue that I'm missing. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 04:16, May 11, 2010 (UTC)
Also, we should not expand articles including info from yet to be aired in US episodes. Just because someone would be pleased to run into spoilers of 4 episodes ahead --Глючарина (talk) (Contribs) 12:04, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

Um, it's not necessarily a bad idea... it's just that we'd have to add it to 90 articles... and the magazine pages are relatively low-traffic so I'm not sure if it would be an entirely necessary/fruitful effort. Easy navigation can aready be achieved through the Category page... —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 20:36, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

i was just thinking that also. But the image came from a decent webpage..... Stargate TL1 (talk) (Contribs) 22:47, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

months throughout the wikia

iv noticed nearly all da episodes, magazines and novel pages have the month highlighted in red (no link). Is the reason we have the month as a future possible link? i just dont see the purpose? Also my friend screwed around with da format of the magazine pages the other day, when they were suppose to be helpin me out. i think they've all been fixed now, but i appologise for any screw ups.

i like the new logo also... more eye catching.... who designed it? Stargate TL1 (talk) (Contribs) 19:40, May 18, 2010 (UTC)

Enigmaxs designed the new logo. I don't know why we have month redlink articles, even worse are specific dates like January 12. They seem unnecessary to me, but for some reason they are kept. MolocKal'el T | C - 22:52, May 17, 2010 (UTC)

oh and colonelsam has also created these pages which need removing as they are entirely made up and as such do not belong here:

--Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 13:04, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

We'll let him keep them... they're only fanfiction subpages of his userpage and we agreed long ago that he could keep a few after he had originally created like 30. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 18:14, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

communications stones and time travel

its a bit random but i wz wonderin last night... if they'll do a time travel/alternative reality episode using the 'ancient communication stones'? it could make for an interestin story if done in the right way?... for example, communicating with da ancients dat built the ship in thre past... finding out some secret about the ship or somethin Stargate TL1 (talk) (Contribs) 10:46, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

Just curious, how could they use the Comm Stones to travel in time/dimensions? —Supakillaii (talk) (Contribs) 11:56, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
i dont know, its stargate... they could make an elephant hang on piece of sewing cotton if they wanted Stargate TL1 (talk) (Contribs) 16:23, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
Apparently, they still need to communicate, so unless there is stable time portal they won't --Глючарина (talk) (Contribs) 16:46, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

That would be pretty cool tho, having an episode with Ancients in it. I guess they could find some sort of device that did that on the ship... use the stargate somehow, or maybe pass through some sort of spacial anomaly and have it affect the communication stones in some way... —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 17:05, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

Don't forget that Stargates can be time portals. I mean, presumably with the right techology and power you wouldn't even need a solar flare. Sman789 (talk) (Contribs) 17:55, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

Stargate Infinity Screen Captures

when adding Stargate Infinity screen captures for an episode/page... what is the maximum amount you would recommend? i know some people dont want Stargate Infinity on this wikia... but i wanna polish these episode pages so they are complete as possible Stargate TL1 (talk) (Contribs) 21:24, June 1, 2010 (UTC)

p.s; these images would be under a section called screen captures on each episodes page, which would be at the bottom.

Just try to focus on key scenes i guess... But mainly use your judgment. There really isn't a limit on how many images per gallery, but try not to do anything crazy like having upwards of 20 or so images. Oh, and title the section "Gallery" and use the <gallery> </gallery> tags for it. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 21:36, June 1, 2010 (UTC)

304 image gallery

i noticed that there are at least 5 images in the gallery on the 304 page, which appear to be fan images. should they not be there? --Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 18:31, June 7, 2010 (UTC)

If you're referring to the images under the "References" heading, three of them are official concept art images as found under "special Features" on the first disc of Stargate Atlantis: The Complete Second Season. The other image is from the official MGM tech journal, and thus all images are indeed official and not one of them is fan-created. Not one image in that entire article is fan-created and therefore all images are suited to be there. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 20:21, June 7, 2010 (UTC)

Workout room AKA Destiny Gym

Im not sure that the redirect works here, it was called the workout room in "Pain' and in the JM's blog blueprint i saw (unless i dreamed that part) and its not really been said that the room itself was set aside by the ancients for working out, just by the expedition members.

Also the botany lab and the plant room are different rooms as seen on the script blueprints i have uploaded [4] Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 11:33, July 14, 2010 (UTC)

My bad. I don't follow his blog or a lot of the behind the scenes stuff. So in the future if you could cite on an article where it's title originates, it would be easier to differentiate between fan-made names and real ones. Thanks —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 17:54, July 14, 2010 (UTC)

Redirect links

Could you possibly change the links to Rodney McKay to Meredith Rodney McKay on your user page and on the Samantha Carter page. I took all day changing all those links, maybe we can remove the Rodney McKay redirect...if people did things right around here. Thanks in advance. Also you have a Tau'ri link which should be Tau'ri And a DHD link that can become a "Dial home device|DHD" and a "Garage door opener|GDO" link(s) on the samantha carter page --Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 07:49, July 18, 2010 (UTC)

Redirects aren't really a "bad" thing. I mean, if someone were to type in "Rodney Mckay" in the search menu, it should link to the "Meredith Rodney Mckay" page as he goes by both names. So, redirect pages shouldn't be deleted. And (not to negate your work over the past few days) it's not really a "problem" to have redirects... tho it does look a nicer without them being all over the place. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 19:27, July 18, 2010 (UTC)
exactely! question: sockpuppeting is not allowed, but i can see the User:Lo10, User:Sam10 and User:Colonelsam are the person and all three accounts appear to be somewhat active, and i know he has been warned in the past. --Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 12:28, July 20, 2010 (UTC)
Yea, sockpuppeting isn't allowed and we've repeatedly blocked all his accounts. He might have one or so still active, but he hasn't really been causing a problem lately. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 20:59, July 20, 2010 (UTC)
i see his edits as problems. we is obviously using a translator to change his swedish edits on his wiki and the sentences dont make sense and have to be re-written. speaking of his wiki, its obvious he is making the edits on here to validate his own wiki. i know thats not a reason to ban him but for some reason he just annoys me.....might be the lack of sleep. --Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 16:21, July 30, 2010 (UTC)

could you maybe lock the Prius page or add a warning etc, there are users adding pointless infomation on that page and they keep undoing the edits and they dont seem to to get that the information isnt nessecary.Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 02:29, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

may i suggest banning the following user:Lxw840611 . He is obvious a spammer, you can see his handywork [5], [6], [7] etc Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 07:38, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

It's from Citizen Joe. Is it appearing for you? I'm having problems viewing some images and I haven't been able to see this one since I uploaded it. Lowriders95s10 (talk) (Contribs) 20:41, August 7, 2010 (UTC)

Lately images haven't been appearing for me either on some occasions. It's likely just an issue with wiki's servers... and I got a message that they're making some changes... so that's probably what's affecting the images. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 21:01, August 7, 2010 (UTC)

two things: 1. is is just me or is this wiki slowing right down when loading lately? 2. could you lock the wraith beaming device page as the rogue penguin user keeps reverting my edits to say that a speculated function is actually a true function of the machine. i thought this want a place for speculations. Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 05:45, August 17, 2010 (UTC)

Destiny expedition

once again i am complaining about that penguin, the destiny expedition page, he keeps removing the off world missions part when i believe that its a good summary of the first season, as there havent been many missions yet, its good to keep it there. yes i know that no other pages have it but like i said its a good summary that lets people know what happens quickly instead of reading bulks of words. Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 03:55, August 18, 2010 (UTC)

I have given my thoughts on the Talk page of the Destiny Expedition article. Your opinion has merit, as does Rouge Penguins. Just because he has a different idea doesn't make him/her "wrong". We're all just trying to make this website a better place. So... hurtful comments aimed at any user are greatly discouraged and prolonged disputes will lead to the banning of one or both of the parties involved. Ultimately the final decision of what goes on in articles is up to the administration here... so I don't mean to sound as though I'm "picking sides". —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 04:48, August 18, 2010 (UTC)
Since the worthless edit war by two children has caused you to lock the page could you add Vince Kwan to the Destiny expedition list. He needs to go in the former members and settlers and loses sections. Thanks Lowriders95s10 (talk) (Contribs) 06:21, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

due to the fact i refuse to speak to the f***ing penguin, i removed some fan made images from both the iris and dhd pages, because we dont use fan made images on this site, it mentioned the main page images but thats just because no such image exists anywhere else. Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 08:02, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

The images in Point of origin, the main image of Stargate address, and every single image on Glyph. All fan-made renders using the gate images as a source or a basic, fan-made diagram for the middle one. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 08:04, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

speaking to you Anubis - yes those images come from an unknown source, but we have no canon sources for those things, and the main page images dont count, they arent in any articles. i use the city of atlantis for my map of the city, which is not canon, and by the penguins logic i can upload images on here. Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 08:09, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

I feel this post made on another wiki merits mention. This kind of spiteful behavior is just childish. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 08:17, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

you know what, im done, im not going to put up with this shit. im gone. Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 08:19, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

Fan-created diagram images aren't so much a problem as are images created using 3-D imaging/modeling programs. We have user-created Stargate Diagrams on the Glyph article because such accurate images could never be provided via screen capture... However, an over-abundance of such images for far less-useful purposes would not be permitted... and on the iris article it would seem having such an image serves little purpose... —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 17:33, August 21, 2010 (UTC)
Fair enough. The iris one is somewhat redundant. Could at least restore the old DHD image that was replaced with the render, though. That one came from RDA's website according to the image data. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 17:38, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

Hey Anubis are you interested in Stargate Fanon ? Kaeleth (talk) (Contribs) 06:08, September 3, 2010 (UTC)

Deleted Music Page

Could you please point me to the listing of music already on the Wiki? - I spent an hour looking for it today, then 2 hours compiling a list... you spent 2 seconds deleting it, without even a message to my talk page. KevinP (talk) (Contribs) 18:42, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

We don't have a listing of music, per se, on this wiki largely because a page with such a purpose would seem to serve little purpose. We have a category of Soundtracks, but that only includes music created specifically for the show that has been released officially. In Stargate Universe, they tend to play more modern music that is not exclusive to the show and the appearance of such music is documented on the article for the episode in which it appeared. An entirely separate article listing every song that has ever appeared in Stargate, based on my experience, seems impractical and unnecessary as, from a realistic standpoint, if someone wanted to know what the song was in the episode they were watching, they would be more likely to go to the episode's article instead of scrolling through a list. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 18:51, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
Here is an alternate opinion.... Reading through 20 separate articles to obtain a list of all music in a season is a waste of time and effort for a casual internet google searcher. It was a waste of time for me.... I wanted to know... so I could pseudo create an SGU 'album' for myself... I thought it would be nice to share. I thought this was a nice place to share the compilation of information. There are reasons other than 'what was that song' someone might want this information... so in my opinion, it should be presented in a form not limited to access on a 'per episode' basis. KevinP (talk) (Contribs) 18:57, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
This wiki is a place to share information - relevant information in a format that does not contradict our policies. But, you bring up a good point. Here's what we can do for now: I'll create a subpage for you titled: User:KevinP/Music. On that page, you can work on your list and, when you finish it, I'll decide (based on the relevance of information presented in it) if it should be incorporated into the main namespace. (This is largely how "work in progress" articles should be done). —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 19:06, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. KevinP (talk) (Contribs) 19:08, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
The page is pretty much up to the level of detail I was looking for now. Please take a look when you get a chance. If it's not acceptable in whole, or in part for use in the wiki at large, let me know and I will archive my work and take down the page here. - Thanks KevinP (talk) (Contribs) 20:49, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Technological periods

Hey Anubis. Recently I have started a small personal project of creating categories for all the technological periods. However while the periods generally work well all the way to Information Age, after that they... don't. For instance Hebridian is "Advanced", but Aschen Prime is in "Cybernetic Age" even though from what we know they are on about the same level. (I know the bio-weapon was uber.) Then there are Earth and Orilla who were "Extremely Advanced". Now while these may be sufficient, I would propose a more practical scale. "Interstellar Age" and "Intergalactic Age". So far all races who are "Extremely Advanced" are also in "Intergalactic Age" and "Advanced" are in "Interstellar Age". Now while Hebridan may lack hyperdrives, interstellar travel is still common place, so "Interstellar Age" would apply. Advanced and Extremely Advanced don't really mean anything, Cybernetic Age even less. Iron Age, Space Age, Nuclear Age and Information Age are all named by the most important technological achievement of their time, so logically advanced and extremely advanced have no place here. Thoughts? --Uriel718 (talk) (Contribs) 18:13, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

Me again. One more argument. The Ancients would never call the Goa'uld advanced and themselves extremely advanced. Just as we don't call the Space Age advanced and ourselves extremely advanced or the Space Age call the Nuclear Age advanced and so on.--Uriel718 (talk) (Contribs) 18:20, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
Might want to cap off at "Interstellar" and "Intergalactic" if you're going to categorize them. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 18:35, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
Hm... actually this method of categorization seems...unnecessary... and possibly misleading. I mean, it is the race inhabiting the planet, not the planet itself, that has reached each respective period of advancement. Furthermore, pn Earth, we have asgard weapons, advanced tech, etc.... but to the general public we are believed to be far less advanced. Also, there are tribes around the world that still run around in loin cloths... and are quite primitive. The naming of these categories is open to debate and bias, and so it would be best to just not have them. Even if we were to merely have the categories "advanced" and "primitive", keep in mind that the Tau'ri were considered primitive for the Goa'uld even after we had constructed Prometheus. So, these terms are naturally relative and so it would be difficult to use them accurately for the sake of categorization.... it would seem. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 23:30, September 14, 2010 (UTC)
That's a very good point. Realisticly the technological periods should be on species, not on planets. Anyway, forgetting about the categories, what do you think about the name change? I still stand by my argument, that advanced and extremely advanced are not scientific enough. I mean if the Tau'ri had a scale for how advanced a civilization is it would follow the same guidelines that we use here on Earth.
I agree that "advanced" and "extremely" advanced aren't really good terms... but my main problem (although it's not really a major issue) is that we really can't tell the full extent of a civilization's level of advancement as to say (for example) "bronze age", because naturally events play out differently on every planet and so saying "bronze age" may not mean the same thing for a particular planet as it meant for earth. Although I'm not really sure about the specifics of the time-period naming system that we currently use in real life. I mean, I'm fine with using the naming system that we use in real life on this wiki because saying "bronze age" for a particular planet would largely be "good enough", but what would we call the Ancients' level of advancement... or any race more advanced than we are now in real life. So, I guess what I'm saying is make changes where you see fit, but for races like the Ancients, Goa'uld, Asgard, etc, "advanced" and "extremely advanced" will have to suffice lest we make up speculative names, which would largely go against policy and not be ok. Hm... this has sort of turned into a mis-shapen rant as my thoughts develop (heh, sorry :) ). I guess we could say "Extremely advanced" (intergalactic travel).... and "Advanced" (Interstellar age)... but it really doesn't seem like it accomplishes much seeing as how more specific details about a race's advancement would be outlined more fully in the rest of the article about them. Saying "advanced" or "extremely advanced" really only serves to give the reader a general idea/first impression of a civilization and would give them slightly more perspective upon reading the rest of the article about them. (And when I say this I'm talking about how in the infobox for each planet's page it states the technological period). So........ in conclusion, things are pretty much fine the way they are... but feel free to expand upon races labeled as "primitive". *catches breath* :) —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 23:44, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

Maek IX Nuculear Bomb

Why did you delite over half of the pictures i uploaded?

They were all small, blurry, and really showed nothing of significance. I Kept a few that showed the controls of the device and such, but most of them were low quality, very similar to each other. Also, 10+ images in a gallery seems a bit excessive given that particular article. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 05:25, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

Fair Enoght i got pictures from Youtube of the Eps so yeah thats why qualty was bad... well anyway Ty for replying...

User:CarterSam...sure sounds like Colonelsam and the edits sure look aliek

Whenever you get the chance, a couple of IP editors are dead-set on denying that Famrir was an Asgard, and they're not going to drop it as far as I can tell. A lock would be nice. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 04:02, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

Why has this page been protected. It has inaccurate information and should be fixed. The alien depicted in the original Stargate movie is NOT an Asgard. They don't even look the same. As stated on Stargate_canon "...the evidence on screen will always take precedence." It is clear to anyone that has seen the movie and watched the show that he alien that was host to Ra is NOT an Asgard. Please fix this. RPG information should not be ANYWHERE on this site as it is not official in the Stargate universe. Jimv1983 (talk) (Contribs) 04:26, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

It is the policy of this site to accept most licensed material as canon, and that includes games, books, and RPGs. Naturally, there are discrepancies between the movie and the series (the stargate itself in the movie is quite different in appearance than in the show, but it is still a stargate... just as Famrir may not look "entirely" Asgard, but is still one). More recent information largely takes precedence, and the RPGs (which are considered canon in their own right) were released after the movie. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 04:32, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

Looks like Asgard will also need a lock. He's not going to drop the issue. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C)

Why would I drop the issue when the information is wrong. No episode of Stargate ever mentions any of those "Asgard" I deleted. They don't exist in the Stargate universe as stated by the actual writers and producers of the shows. Please put accurate information and it will not be an issue. Jimv1983 (talk) (Contribs) 06:07, September 22, 2010 (UTC)
It's been explained to you why the information is correct. It is sourced from an officially licensed product and is treated as canon. Doesn't matter if it never became an issue in the show, because the RPG is considered a valid source, and is cited in the article. That's why you should drop the issue, because the information is not wrong. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 06:13, September 22, 2010 (UTC)
It is not a hidden fact that this wiki uses ALL canon material relevant to the Stargate universe. Just because something isn't mentioned in the show on-screen doesn't mean that it doesn't exist in the Stargate universe. MOST wikis follow the same policy of accepting published sources and such as canon, such as Halopedia and Wookiepedia. If you remove any pertinent information retrieved from such canon sources, the edits will be reverted and you will be blocked from editing. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 06:19, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

ASDF's user page

just here to let you knwo i removed what i believed was an attack against me form asdf1239 or whatevers page, people keep putting it back. I have said my case for its removal yet once again people around here prefer to side with everyone else instead of doing what is LEGAL. i am well within my rights to demand its removal, yet no one else understands. Maybe you could say to them not to do so, i dont want to have to take this to the wikia people. Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 04:47, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

Just to interject, as demonstrated in one of my edit summaries, the quote that the above user objects to is actually not protected, at least not as it appears on ASDF1239's page, as it would seem to fall under the protection of Fair Dealing laws in Australia (where the above user resides, forming the basis of the copyright claim). This can be found quite clearly in Section 41A of the Copyright Act of 1968. The intent of the quotation does appear to mock or parody, which is protected under Australian law. Now, whether or not it's permissible per the policies of this site is another matter. All I know is that, on the Wiki I administer, quoting someone without their consent is permissible, while editing their user page is not. As I am, however, not an admin here, I leave that decision in your capable hands. SpartHawg948 (talk) (Contribs) 04:52, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
yes but i take offence at such a comment, i was mad at the time of that comment becuase once again people were siding with someone who as far as i was concerned was reverting every edit i made just to spite me. i was BANNED because of an offensive comment i made to that person, yet Asdf1239 gets no such ban. sure sparthawg sounds all legal, yet i remind you he is an AMERICAN, i am an australian, i think i understnd the law here better than he does, copyright it free and anyone can claim it, either the comment is removed or i can take legal action against asdf1239 as stated by internet laws in regards to this. i do not want to do that, as the wikia people will get involved and knowing myself i would demand the wiki be shut down, and lets face it, those wikia people have caved in the past pretty easily Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 04:59, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
I have placed my thoughts on the matter on his talk page. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 05:02, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
And I totally respect that. Apologies if I caused any problems. The rules here seem quite a bit different from the ones I'm used to. I don't suppose there's any page where site policies are all laid out? Something akin to this page, maybe? If not, I'll just try to muddle through as best I can... :) SpartHawg948 (talk) (Contribs) 05:08, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
No harm done... wikis can be quite confusing in that respect. This category lays out the pages that comprise our policy... mostly. It is missing a lot (including our policy regarding personal attacks and such) so when I get time I'll add a section about that. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 06:41, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you kindly, boss-man! :) SpartHawg948 (talk) (Contribs) 07:09, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
So a user previously blocked for flaming returns to cause a disturbance, declares my neutrally quoting him a personal attack, threatens to sue, and gets his way. I'm disappointed but i'm fine with your decision of course. ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 06:28, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, well I really hate having to tell other users what they can and can't have on their userpage, but it supposedly was offending him. And I don't really care about what he did before, but as long as he doesn't do it again, he's just another user with the same rights :) —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 06:36, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

Question: How do you feel about the inclusion of RPG, books, magazine material on here? Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 05:05, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

Heh, well, as an admin, I sort of have to follow Jaymach's policies. But personally, I think we should throw out those sources that have conflicting info (such as the the size of the Supergate and Ori motherships). I also feel that the show should always take precedence. However, as we do clearly label what info comes from what source, I feel that people can read through this wiki and take with them the info they find relevant and disregard non-tv sources if they choose. As a definitive source of all things Stargate, I feel we are obligated to add info from any published source. I mean, some of the RPG material just looks ridiculous, but as it is labeled as being "ambiguoysly cannon" or "non cannon", I really don't see it as a problem. And, frankly, this whole system of cannonocity confused me to a degree ;)... but I hardly would think that including RPGs and other published material would make people look upon this wiki in disgust. I mean, obviously I have some bias, but this wiki is pretty awesome (category structure, consistent policy, proper format...). So, overall, I'm pretty happy with what we have here. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 05:20, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
Yes well Jaymach just takes anything that had stargate in the title and throws it in, and yes this wiki is not held in high regard in most places which has to do with the amount of material in here that very few consider as canon material. which is why i created another stargate wiki.Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 05:40, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, well.... I don't see anyone that would ridicule this wiki with a better wiki of their own thus far. And, I mean, it's not like there has been a world-wide vote in the matter, so who is to say in how high of a regard this wiki is to be held. But, everyone is naturally entitled to their opinion... and I feel that it is a noble endeavor for you to create your own wiki based on how you think things should be. But, I mean, we are currently the most complete source of Stargate information in the known universe... even without our non-cannon articles... probably ;) And as long as people are informed, I'm happy, regardless of where they choose to get their info... but naturally I would prefer that it be here ;). (and in a side note, I could care less what a bunch of pimple-faced, teenaged, scifi nerds think of this site.... which is an ironic statement as I would probably fall under that category as well. My main thought there was, who cares what others think.... although that kinda contradicts the whole "democracy" thing that is "mostly" prevalent in the world... to a degree...) Anyway, I hope I didn't offend you in that response... I wasn't calling you a scifi nerd.... but "those" who would call this wiki "bad".... in a general respect. Anyway... happy thoughts :) —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 05:54, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

well the people ive talked to werent pimpl faced nerds...some of them were hot chicks!....anyway i agree that this wiki is good but there is still a lot to be done, like banning User:CarterSam its obviously colonelsam. Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 05:58, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

Yes... that Sam person is quite determined. It frankly seems like a lost cause to ban is as he just keeps coming back... somehow. He must have access to every computer/IP address in Sweden (at least I think that's where he's from...). And I envy you... knowing "hot chicks" that watch stargate. ;) I can't find anyone that even knows what Stargate is. For an American-Canadian show, it sure seems to have a boatload of fans elsewhere... —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 06:03, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
why does he need to be banned? he makes clearly well-intentioned and somewhat useful edits. ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 06:45, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
I agree... and that is sort of why we haven't taken a more aggressive stance against him. Although he does have a habit of getting carried away with creating articles with little relevance and terrible English/grammar. But mainly, he has been obviously abusing multiple accounts (probably upward into the 20s)... which is against policy. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 06:50, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
This whole discussion has really made me realize our policy isn't really clearly defined. When I get some free time I'll work on expanding it so it doesn't just seem like I'm just pulling these responses out of nowhere. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 06:52, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

shouldn't articles on subjects such as actors should link to the wikipedia article for the country in their infobox ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 22:54, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

Hm... I'm actually not entirely sure what you're asking based on your phrasing. If you mean adding an external link in the infobox that would link to wikipedia's article about the country from where the actor is from... that doesn't really seem like it serves a useful purpose.
Oooo... I see, like with the Gabrielle Rose page. Yea... don't do that. I mean, it's not really a "bad" thing, but it just seems like there's really is no reason to. I mean, people can just click on the wikiepdia link at the bottom of the page to get more info on her. I mean, it would be weird in the same way if we linked "female" and "1954" and "married" to wikipedia as well. And to address another issue than I think I saw on some's talkpage, while we do have a Canada article on this site, it would be best not to mix in-universe and out-of-universe articles in that manner... —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 23:34, October 5, 2010 (UTC)
yes, that was my intention, to keep in-universe and out of universe information separate. i don't mind either way as long as it's not linked to our IU Canada article. ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 01:53, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

Hi could you tell me where you got the stargate images from please

If you mean the 3 Stargate images we have on our main page, it looks like User:Ka'lel is the one who got them. You'd have to ask him for info regarding their origin. If you mean the logo in the top left corner of all three gates with the words "Stargate wiki" over them, User:Enigmaxs is the one who uploaded it... —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 23:40, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

New Skin

Just wanted to draw your attention to this forum post: Forum:Wikia's new skin. Cheers. MolocKal'el T | C - 20:35, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks :) —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 23:40, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

There is some uncorrect info due to that fact is the Ori mother ship (on webisite) legth is 850 but yet the supergate is 400 in diamater so how does that work out correct?

There is a note about that at the bottom of Ori warship. Suffice it to say that whoever made those figures either did it on the spot or got the scale wrong. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 21:01, October 17, 2010 (UTC)
haha, wow... I had just copied and pasted that here and there was an edit conflict. I suggested that these conflicting measurements be thrown out, but User:Jaymach (another admin here) insists on keeping them as they are from cannon sources. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 21:03, October 17, 2010 (UTC)
canon, smanon, anyone can apply for (and pay) to use the stargate name. Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 00:17, October 18, 2010 (UTC)

once again a Stargate Wiki user is being a douchebag. thats one of the reasons people are leaving....that and the ridiculously gay skin Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 07:48, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

Quick Question

Excuse me good sir, I have a quick question, as the headline states. I was given to understand that personal attacks and insults are not tolerated around here (during that whole brouhaha over ASDF1239's userpage, discussed in an earlier thread on your talk page). If this is indeed the case, I figured I'd show you the following rather charming message left on my talk page:

".what are you retarded? dont answer that, im just gonna assume you are. so once again dont bother replying as i dont listen to retards, then again as a retard you wouldnt understand not to reply anyway, wanker Escyos (talk)"

As you can see, it's pretty clearly a personal attack/insult, so I just figured I'd bring it to your attention. Thanks for your time! SpartHawg948 (talk) (Contribs) 07:52, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

(note: I have plenty of money to fund this and a lot of free time), please lay your thanks to Sparthawg. Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 08:34, October 19, 2010 (UTC)
