I think this was a really smart move on the part of the producers and writers. Though it could have been because the actor didn't want to be a part of the project long term, killing off a main character in one of the first episodes made the viewers feel as if there is no "plot armor" for any of the characters. At least for a while, none of the characters felt safe and we never knew if they were going to make it or not. Other thoughts?

Would you die?

Would you be randomly sent to a planet?

Would you find yourself "cloned" a million times?

Would parts of you end up on each planet?
